Year 8 Christmas Cheer

The final assembly of the year got all Year 8 into the Christmas mood.  As well as listening to the goodwill message of the Nativity, it was the judging of the inter-tutor Christmas Tree competition!  Each tutor had the task to decorate their own Christmas Tree and they all rose to the challenge!   The level of creativity and industry over the last few weeks has been marvellous:  from the John Hanson School back-drop painting by Elysia Marshall and the co-ordinated Gold and Black colour decoration of Mrs Tunstall’s tutor group to the row of personalised stockings designed by every member of Mr Taylor’s tutor group.

The judging panel of Mr Coombs, Mrs Bush, Mrs Reed and Mrs Page, who have seen many competitions through the years, were really impressed and struggled to make a final decision.  However, in the end the impressive 8JTl entry was crowned champion ‘tree’.

Stuck for stocking ideas? Christmas is a perfect time to ensure your child has all of the correct uniform items! As term has gone on some items that are not on our uniform list have snuck back in – white socks, skinny trousers, straight skirts, non uniform shoes.

Please support us in providing your child with the correct uniform for school and making sure that they wear it. The full uniform list is on the website, but do contact your child’s Head of Year if you require clarification. Please note that some items sold in uniform sections of stores are not acceptable as John Hanson uniform so please do check.

We really do appreciate your support in ensuring our student body look smart and united.

Warning - Police Patrols

We, along with Balksbury Federation Schools and St. John the Baptist Primary School, have been asked by Hampshire Constabulary to again inform parents of the rules regarding the roads around Floral Way.

For parents driving to John Hanson you should only come into Floral Way from the roundabout close to the Hexagon housing (not the roundabout by the A303 bridge).  When leaving the site, drivers must turn left out of the school car park.

Please note there is no through route along Floral Way from either end and drivers are causing a traffic offence if they ignore the ‘Buses and Bicycles only’ signs by the school entrance.  These regulations applies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The police have told us that after attempting to educate drivers they have now been left with no option but to start issuing fixed penalty notices of £60 via random checks. Thank you for your support with this.
