Happy Holidays from IFS!

Have a very happy holiday season!

Holiday Wishlist

The Forfar lodge chimney is too small for Santa to send presents...
...so we've decided to post our Holiday Wish List here! Please email office@intlfieldstudies.org if you intend to donate any items on the list.  We appreciate any possible donation and thank you for sharing your holiday cheer!

Scouting Trips to Andros

Explore the sights and sounds of Andros, Bahamas at Forfar Field Station!

IFS is currently offering free* 4-day scouting trips to potential group leaders. These trips will showcase the cultural interactions, island ecology, and coral reefs of Andros and provide you with a hands-on experience at Forfar Field Station. Scouting trips can be tailored to your specific needs and will highlight the areas of study of interest to you. Contact Matt at office@intlfieldstudies.org for more information.

*Scouting trips are $100 per day but you will be reimbursed this cost (and the cost of your flight) on your next trip with 10 or more students.

December Work Week Progress

Volunteers are making Forfar shimmer and shine for 2017!

The weekend before Christmas, 28 volunteers embarked on a journey to Forfar Field Station. They endured winter weather and a few delayed flights to get to Forfar, then completed many tasks putting in over 440 man hours of work (which would have taken our maintenance staff months to complete!)

Together they removed invasive snake grass from most of the property, power washed and painted two of the storage containers, and re-sanded the drive by the lodge and the fire pit area. They also weeded and re-rocked all the flower beds and fire pit area, built new stairs for the Staff cabin deck, built a new swing, cleared debris from behind the cabins, fixed the basketball area, and sanded and painted Big Boat. Additionally, they poured concrete in the lodge bathroom floors, weeded the garden, cleaned out the landscape tool area, removed the office trailer, organized and cleaned the classroom and ping-pong room, and made other minor repairs on the cabins.

IFS would like to thank Alison Laughbaum, Casey Laughbaum, Ella Laughbaum, Greta Laughbaum, Josh Laughbaum, Gloria Lane, Dave Huff, Victoria Rose Barlay, Reed Gerber, Travis Irvine, Jessica Underwood, Brandy Genteline, Emma Flaherty, Emily Bryer, Allison Geis, Trinitti Leon, Mackenzie Leon, Janice Layne, Frank Layne, Blythe Layne, Zack Layne, Sandy Johnson, Brooklyn Johnson, Ben Johnson, and Bob Lee.

Say "Forfar!"

Photo Contest for Visiting Groups!

IFS has prepared a semi-annual photo competition for visiting groups to Forfar Field Station. All shared photos will be entered into a competition to win a free exclusive International Field Studies T-Shirt! Not only is this a great way to win a t-shirt, but it will also provide your group with a place to share photos from your trip with each other.

First, IFS will select the top ten photos and put them to a vote through the newsletter and Facebook group! Then it will be up to you to vote! Stay tuned - our first photo vote will be in the Spring of 2017.
