The Peoria Area Civic Chorale presents an uplifting mix of hymns, carols and secular songs of the season at An American Family Christmas, at 7:30pm Friday and Saturday and 3pm on Sunday. Special guests include the Peoria Area Civic Chorale Youth Chorus, two Children’s Festival Choirs (Friday night), professional mezzo-soprano soloist Kate Tombaugh, plus Rudolph, Frosty and Santa. Saturday, December 17th & Sunday, December 18th @ PNC Winterfest
Santa visits the PNC Winterfest, with breakfast served at 8:30am prior to his arrival at 9am. Seventy-five seats are available each day, there will be two hours of private skating, and every child will receive a small gift. Hosted by the Peoria Civic Center and PNC Bank, PNC Winterfest is in its second year and runs through January 15th, featuring a real ice rink and 100-foot-long ice slide. Sunday, December 18th @ Flanagan House / Pettengill-Morron House
Enjoy the beautifully decorated historic homes of the Peoria Historical Society from 1 to 4pm. Flanagan House (942 NE Glen Oak) is decorated in a 1940s theme, harkening back to the days of WWII, while Pettengill-Morron House (1212 W Moss) is celebrating a French Christmas this season. Trained docents will offer guided tours at both homes, and the Butler’s Pantry Vintage Gift Shoppe will offer vintage items at reasonable prices. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Peoria County invites the public to attend an informational meeting from 5:30 to 6:30pm for anyone interested in becoming a CASA volunteer. The next training class will take place from January 7th to January 16th. Volunteers work with the court system and the Department of Children and Family Services to ensure all necessary information is presented to the court to allow the judge to make the best decision possible.
