Red Wing Lodge Outing

Sabaskong Bay
Lake of the Woods
August 12-19, 2017

Build Opportunity into a New Year’s Resolution via Red Wing Lodge

Okay, we all understand the fun of picking up a new “secret weapon” or two, and what is really fun is when one of these special selections pays off in boating excitement.  But now during hard water time, let’s consider this different question: Do you need more opportunity or more baits, more opportunity or more tools for catching that big Muskie? Big fish opportunity is awaiting you at Red Wing Lodge on Lake of the Woods, Canada. The resource and the big fish culture that has developed over the years at Red Wing can be captured in good part with the following single stat: over 14,000 Muskie releases!

How about this New Year’s resolution?  Schedule in big fish Opportunity with a reservation for the annual August Muskie Inc. Outing to Red Wing Lodge.

This opportunity has been provided for years by the cooperative support of Mike and Anne Bartlett of Red Wing Lodge and our two local Muskie Inc. chapters.

The annual Muskie Inc. trip is a great choice for either that first Canadian trip or for the veteran’s extra trip. The convenience of a drive-in camp with the privacy you would expect on an island.

Dates for this year’s outing: August 12-19, 2017.  Save your surprises for muskie action, you don’t need them at base camp. Red Wing Lodge offers a resort base that has been family owned and operated for 50 years, is clean and comfortable, where everything works. The Bartlett family has hosted Muskie Inc. outings for years with personal and friendly service, so they understand what muskie people need and like. Red Wing Lodge is a ten-time Chapter Challenge headquarters, in ’83, ’86, ’93, ’97, ’03, ’04, ’11, ’12, 2014 and again in 2016. Check out the muskie information, including the Red Wing Lodge Hall of Fame, as well as the first live cam in Morson at www.redwinglodge.net

Cost per person in housekeeping cabins remains at $350 (US Funds) for 2017, just $50 per day for big-time Canadian muskie fishing.
Included in the full value of the 2017 Muskie Inc. trip:
* Free Dockage  ($72 value), Free Launch (both ways, $25 value)
* Free Dinner one night, courtesy of the Bartlett’s
* One Free Trip, given away in drawing, courtesy of the Bartlett’s
* Free Wireless Internet Service throughout the Resort
* Free Daily Bag of Ice; door prizes

Reservations require a $50 non-refundable deposit, made out to Red Wing Lodge. Deposits officially confirm reservation holds. First come, first served
Early deposits are appreciated by the Bartlett’s, these funds are used to purchase materials for cabin improvements, most of which can only be made over the winter.

Next Meeting January 17 John Hoyer

John has been passionate about fishing since he could hold a fishing pole. Whether it’s trolling for walleyes on the great lakes, burning bucktails on Vermilion for muskies, skipping a senko under a dock for largemouth, deep cranking for smallmouth on Mille Lacs, going to the end of the ice belt in search of a 2 lb bluegill, or drilling hundreds of holes a day on Devils Lake in search of perch, I have always been excited about the challenge that is patterning fish.

He's a contender in the Cabela’s NWT, a part-time multi-species Guide from Lake Vermilion to Mille Lacs Lake to the Minneapolis Metro Area waters and I’m always anticipating the next big bite. Fishing is his passion and he loves competing, as well as educating and helping other anglers catch the fish of their dreams.

2017 June Jam June 17-18

Preparations are underway for the 2017 June Jam tournament. Tournament dates will be: Pre-tournament sign in Friday June 17th at Wilkin’s Bar and resort on Bone Lake; fishing hours 5AM to 9PM Saturday and 5AM to Noon Sunday, Jun 18th and 19th with the awards ceremony at Wilkin’s starting at 1 PM on Sunday. Those of you who have fished the tournament know how much fun it can be. The two day format is different from most tournaments and adds a lot to the experience. Eight lakes in Polk County Wisconsin can be fished. Results of previous tournaments are available on the North Metro website. If you’ve fished this before joins us again. If you’ve never fished it, give it a try. The two day format really lets you test your skills.

This year’s June Jam flyer, rules and entry forms will be attached available on our website in early March and mailed to previous participants in mid to late March. . Major sponsors this year are Blue Ribbon Bait and Tackle, Red Wing Lodge, Fudally Tackle, Phantom Lures, Pro Label, and Wood’n Wildlife.
