WASHINGTON WILD NEWS

FINAL WEEKS TO HELP WWFHA
REACH THE $25,000 GOAL

We are almost there. Please consider a donation to help our mission—empowering girls through the sport of ice hockey! You can help us reach our goal.

Fourteen years ago, WWFHA pledged to help young females learn to skate and play hockey – to grow the girls’ game in the northwest.

This year we celebrate 14 years including amazing growth in the last 36 months. With our expansion from 3 teams to 7 teams, our players have increased from approximately 42 members to 121 -- almost 300% growth!

Today, we are more committed than ever to bringing the sport of ice hockey, at every level, to young females in the community, but we need your help.

Will you join us as we strive to reach our goal?

Through crowdfunding, our community can reach out to their large circle of friends, family, friends of friends, and fans of the sport to ask everyone for a small amount of support.

It’s easy; just click here: http://www.wwfha.com/donate-today

Contributions are fully tax-deductible, because WWFHA operates under IRS code 501(c)(3), Tax ID 75-3028953.

The Experts’ Edge:

Recovery Nutrition
[from USA Hockey 2016 Parent Handbook]

Recovery nutrition is one of the areas in which athletes can have the greatest effect on their performance. Athletes should consume something immediately aftyer practices or games. Think of "The 4 Rs" when planning recovery nutrition: Rehydrate, Replenish, Repair and Reinforce.

Rehydration: Chocolate milk is a great choice, since it not only rehydrates but also replenishes protein and carbohydrates. But according to recent studies, it takes 2 or 3 cups to full fuel recovery, so don't skimp.

Replenish: The focus here is replenishing glycogen stores, especially in tournament settings. Smoothies can be a great choices, especially those that include natural yogurts and seasonally freash fruits and vegetables.

Repair: Muscle tissue needs repair and regeneration. Whey protein can be a great tool for this, and it's quickly absorbed. Milk, dry milk, yogurt and kefir are all good sources of whey protein.

Reinforcement: Boosting the immune system is important, especially in team settings during cold and flu season. Foods that deliver all-natural anti-oxidants (e.g. dark colored grapes, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, spinach) are great choices
