Dear Farm Friends,

Our new winter CSA season is well underway. So far we are very pleased with how it’s working out. The boxes have been more diverse and nicer overall than in the past. With our new system, we are able to include produce from our farm, when it is available. And we are able to select the produce we want from other farms, and design the boxes ourselves. So far the boxes have been a great mix of veggies from our fields, and from Full Belly, Riverdog, and Terra Firma farms in the Capay Valley/Winters area, and Pinnacle Organics near Santa Cruz. Soon we are hoping to be able to add some special items like little gem lettuces, artichokes, and Brussels sprouts, from two other farms we like in the Santa Cruz area.

Another great part of the new winter CSA is that it is providing more steady winter work for several of our crew. I’m proud of this evolution of the local economy and glad to be able to keep the farm moving in new and creative directions.

6. It Keeps You Connected: Give someone a CSA share and you can pretty much guarantee you’ll be hearing from them. Whether it’s sharing recipes, asking for advice, or telling you how much the kids love those kale chips, it gives you a chance each week to stay a part of their lives.
