Government warns of 1.6 billion for proposed 2nd tranche of AML/CFT legislation
NZ has delayed the 2nd tranche of the AML legislation, which would require real estate agents, accountants, lawyers and other non-financial businesses being subject to the more robust AML obligations under the AML/CFT Act. This would lead to great compliance and the reporting of suspicious transactions that all contribute to anti money laundering.

Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information
From 1 July 2017, New Zealand financial institutions will (unless exempted) need to review their accounts and collect and report information to Inland Revenue on accounts held or (in certain circumstances) controlled by non-residents. Where necessary, Inland Revenue will then share that information with other tax jurisdictions in specific countries. The objective is to help eradicate tax evasion.
