Welcome to the January issue of Your Community, Your Planet! The New Year brings a new update on what's happening in your community.

Our projects and services...

NoGasificationPlantWH Malcolm campaign update: The report and recommendations has been submitted to Scottish Ministers.This means we can expect to hear from the Ministers hopefully before the end of March and certainly before the end of April.

We Go Pedal News Issue 4 out  now!: This is the first issue as part of our Cycle Friendly Communites project and includes feedback from our launch event in addition to lots of useful info about cycling in and around Glasgow and advice to help you cycling in the winter.

Play on Pedals New Year Programme: The free drop-in sessions at Scotstoun Leisure Centre will take place from 1-3pm on Sunday 5, 12, 26 Feb and 12, 26 Mar.

De'ils On Wheels - our community bike workshop is open Wed 11am-3pm and Thu 1-5pm for sales of quality reused bikes, repairs and servicing. We also accept donations of bikes. Find us on the ground floor of 40 Kingsway Court, G14 9SU.

Community Calendar: Our community calendar lists a mix of our own activities and services and other community events and activities many of which are in the G11, G13, G14 and G15 post code areas.

Other news...

Scotland's most polluted streets revealed:  Two Glasgow streets Dumbarton Road and Hope Street are among the 9 most polluted streets for nitrogen dioxide emissions highlighted in the list of Scotland's most polluted streets in 2016.

Victoria Park community placemaking update: A writeup of the  findings from November's community placemaking event is now available. Four workshops will take place in January before the action plan is produced.

Draft Climate Change Plan published: The Scottish Government has published a draft Climate Change Plan which contains detailed proposals to achieve a 66% reduction in Scotland’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Get Glasgow Moving campaign planning meeting: Come along on Wed 1 Feb 6-9pm to Unite the Union, 145-165 West Regent Street G2 4RZ and help build the citywide Public Transport campaign.

Disapperaring Glasgow exhibition: Taking a look at the changing city scape including the demolition of high rise tower blocks such as those at Plean Street, Kingsway Court and Lincoln Avenue, the exhibition is on until Sun 19 Feb in Gallery Two at The Lighthouse, 11 Mitchell Lane, Glasgow G1 3NU.

Cycling Action Plan 2017-2020 launched: CAPS 2017 remains committed to the shared vision that 10% of everyday journeys to be made by bike by 2020.

Social Enterprise strategy launched: The Scottish Government recently published a new ten-year national social enterprise strategy – Scotland’s Social Enterprise Strategy 2016-2026 which sets out the shared ambitions for social enterprise in Scotland.

Parks and Greenspaces report: A series of consultations to inform the strategy for Glasgow’s parks and greenspaces has resulted in a report identifying six areas for further development as the consultation moves forward.

GAF Potato Day 2017: The 6th annual Glasgow Allotment Forum Potato Day will be held on Sun 26 Feb 11am to 3pm at The Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre, 13 Whitevale Street, Dennistoun, G31 1QW. All are welcome, so please spread the word.
