Winter Festival of Lights

Winter Festival of Lights Continues to Grow

At last night's meeting, Tina Myers, Executive Director for the Winter Festival of Lights (WFOL), provided Council with an overview of WFOL's success during the past several years.

With a 10 per cent increase in vehicle traffic and a 12 per cent spike in donations at Dufferin Islands through the first three weeks of the 2016 season, event organizers are planning to expand in 2017 - the festival's 35th anniversary.

Tina requested Council approve $300,000 for each of the next two seasons to help the festival continue to grow. Council referred the request to its 2017 budget deliberations.
