Verdant commissioners appoint Fenn, thank Zapora for his service
During its board meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 14, the Board of Commissioners for the Verdant Health Commission formally appointed Robin Fenn, Ph.D., LICSW, as superintendent of the Verdant Health Commission, effective at the first of the year. Welcome, Robin!
Fenn is taking over for Carl Zapora, who has served as superintendent since the launch of Verdant in 2011 and is retiring at the end of this month. Zapora led the development of Verdant, taking it from the concept created by the commissioners into the organization it is today. During his tenure, Verdant has invested more than $20.9 million in community-based health and wellness programming and opened the Verdant Community Wellness Center in Lynnwood, where Verdant offers free and low-cost health and wellness programs and classes. Our sincerest thanks to Carl for his work and dedication to the organization, and we wish him well in retirement!

Dental clinic for uninsured
Uninsured and underserved families in South Snohomish County have a new option for dental care. Puget Sound Christian Clinic has opened a dental clinic in Lynnwood with support from Verdant to provide comprehensive dental care to low-income patients. Using a staffing model that incorporates both part-time and volunteer dentists and hygienists, the clinic aims to keep costs low so they can serve patients at a reduced price and using a sliding-scale fee structure. They are recruiting for volunteer dentists and hygientists, so if you know someone who might be interested, please refer them to the website: pschristianclinic.org/volunteer. For more information about becoming a patient, please call (206) 363-4105 ext. 701.
