Hi and welcome to our January edition of Scene, our regular newsletter which captures what's been happening for our BTG members.
Last month we said goodbye to our Jets Showcase for 2016. A very big thank you to everyone who was involved in bringing the three Jets shows to the stage. The Jets have completed a very successful year with their annual showcases and will be taking a break over the holidays, with the Jets sign on enrolment day being held on Tuesday the 14th February from 5pm - 7pm.
The A-Chord Choir has been entertaining the folks at Kaiser Drive in the lead up to Christmas and our lovely Songbyrds ladies choir wowed them here at the theatre on the 18th December.
At the recent GCTA we won 5 awards, a huge congratulations to our cast of Rent who won Most Outstanding production, Best program (Jane Schon) and Best Director (Mardi Schon) we also won best supporting Actor in a musical (Ian Moore) and Best Supporting Actress in a play (Jermia Turner) What a way to end a fabulous year for the theatre.
VALE Adam McDonnell
Sadly, a member of our 2011 Return to the Forbidden Planet crew has passed away. Guitarist Adam McDonnell lost his long battle against cancer this week. He was not only a talented musician but a true friend, incredibly humble and generous. In RTTFP he was recruited to play bass, but was then shocked to discover he would be performing in costume with choreography and makeup. Eventually he embraced the fun and allowed us to dress him up as a Klingon warrior. However the intimidating exterior masked a gentle, vegetarian, animal-loving and clever person who we were delighted to be friends with; a friendship which has lasted based on a great show experience and his warm personality. Adam requested that donations be made in his name to the following medical research institute. https://med.unsw.edu.au/david-morris-cancer-research-fund
Hovmey Davan Adam – salute the stars.
