Cook Japanese at Home $49.99
Japanese food is healthy, delicious and universally enjoyed, but despite the popularity, and the now ready access to ingredients, few of us cook this delightful cuisine at home. This impeccable guide from Japanese cook Kimiko Barber demystifies the cuisine and makes it accessible to the home cook. Kimiko covers everything you need to know about Japanese food, with clear and concise explanations of Japanese ingredients, cooking terms and techniques, and 200 recipes which are laid out in the Western-style format of starters, mains and desserts rather than the traditional Japanese one of cooking methods. Truly one of the best Japanese cookbooks we have had in store in a long time.

Hummus where the heart is $24.99
It’s the humble Eastern Mediterranean mezze dish that stole our hearts – who’d have thought a little bowl of smashed up chickpeas could taste like magic? As a snack it is far too easy to get through a whole tub if left alone with a family-sized bag of crisps. It has become an essential item for any modern well-stocked fridge, whether served as a dip with plain crackers or vegetable crudités, slathered on bread to give oomph to kebabs or sandwiches, or offered as part of a main meal in its own right. Homemade hummus is superior to store-bought in many ways: it is less sour, more intense in fresh flavours and inexpensive to put together. The classic combination is usually chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic and tahini – but this basic recipe is so versatile that it gratefully absorbs any flavour you can throw at it. This is a great little book to add interest to your platters.
