Art & interiors that soothe the soul...

We are loving well-edited interiors, and the good art that goes with them. Art that complements the interior space helps flow. Tone-on-tone is a great, soothing choice; pops of gold are hot right now. Blues are a solid favorite, while smokey and dove greys seem to relax everyone. Texture is a draw; creating visual interest and tying together the furniture and rugs. I am personally dreaming about lighter interiors, and an inviting, large sectional to anchor it... sometime...
Drawing inspiration from nature, in my art, is a constant: the water, wood, botany, valleys, canyons, mountains and meadows. There are so many ways to take an image, or a photo, and turn it into a photo-encaustic, painted art treasure that is highly personal to you and your loved ones. Project videos of the studio process show hot wax art from start to end. Beeswax + oil art is what I have done in the studio for the better part of 10 years- it is limitless, and am endlessly inspired. Here are some pictures of spaces that are stunning... a pin-board of sorts for you!  Alas, sometimes no art needed~
My studio has been a happy full-tilt, creating one-off pieces and custom contemporary seascapes and abstracts. Site visits are a treat;working with lovely and kind collectors around country. Just finished a many-layered oceanscape for a Bellevue condo; using a picture from their Hawaii travels. We did a custom video for the collectors, start to finish, which you may view here.  Currently at work on a magical Orchard Fairy Tale piece, involving a story from the father, to his precious wife and kids. Taking art to a whole new 'journey' level. Finishing a custom piece for SF Bay Area residence, drawing on blues and neutrals, mock image here; at work on some pieces for a tropical Hawaiian home, and a lovely Bainbridge Island waterfront residence. Doing a riveting grey wolf for a CO residence.  My designer and I often simulate the finished piece, with software, in the collector's home-setting, so they can visualize it in context. It is an enhancement to the process and workflow. Collections of small art for stockists, and custom collections have been keeping my studio hopping. Telling dreamy, magical stories through thin wax layering, oils and fire...

Kindness is timeless...

The studio is proud to donate 20% of all proceeds to local animal shelters, arts and education. Am enjoying moms with teens playing with paint here in my studio- inspirational on many levels.
Raised a good bit for Kitsap Humane Society Auction through donations, and still fostering those adorable kittens.. keeps our family heart-full and hopping!
I was honored to give a talk to Port Ludlow Artists' League; honorarium was donated back to local arts scholarship fund.
Making small memorial blocks, using loved ones' ashes, upon request. Very meaningful. I have been doing encaustic enhancements to wedding photos- makes the perfect post-wedding gift for bride & groom! Big studio production making many small, mini-encaustic gift blocks- they are so sweet and handcrafted; Everyone should be able to collect art, hence small pieces to hang right where you put your boots on each morning!
We also have an art mini giveaway quarterly, on Facebook.

We like big art and we cannot lie...

Big art is such a statement piece!
I recently completed a curated, larger-tha- life White + Gold collection, now available at  Architects Wife in Montana. I do love to paint all sizes...  yet, large art is unequivocally a statement piece, and is a real pleasure to create.  I work closely with stockists to make sure we hit the sweet-spot for collectors and buyers, through custom collections and commissions. Some pieces sold before hitting the showroom display. That said, full heart and soul goes into each and every labor of love piece I create.  I do work in any scale, and collaborate with local craftsmen to build the custom boards. My husband also gets props for much of the woodworking. It truly takes a team, including the support of my whole family to work in stretches like I often do. Very grateful.
Another grande honor: I was invited to do a custom 'fall foliage train tracks' scene for Aegis Living Corporation's New Queen Anne/ Rodgers Park Property this September, in Seattle.  Theme is Downton Abbey era, and every detail of the property is high quality and stunning..
