About workshop
All levels of experience are welcome. You are welcome to join for a session or all 5 sessions.
The emphasis of this workshop series is on building confidence in ourselves and our intuition. We will be working with the Tarot as a tool to help us make meaning from observations with greater clarity. More than just knowing how to read images, being a good tarot reader means being able to read of situations in the present moment.
Each workshop I will introduce information on a specific part of the deck, followed by exercises and strategies to familiarize ourselves with and use the deck. We will use both traditional and experimental methods -- including some adapted from the Surrealists. I encourage improvisation and creativity rather than reading from books or applying external systems.
I will be teaching from the Tarot de Marseille (the traditional French tarot, named after the town of Marseille). Those who don't already have a deck may buy a deck upon signing up, either online or from my personal collection at the beginning of the workshop. There is a large number of different versions of the Tarot de Marseille available, including the excellent version by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Philippe Camoin. See resources below.
About Chris
I am an artist, teacher, healer, and tarot reader. I decided that this coming new year I want to start teaching how to creatively use the tarot in everyday life. Whether for divination (speaking with higher selves), meditation, or for poetic and artistic purposes. I want to do this because I believe that despite its associations with obscurity and esotericism, tarot is actually very accessible as long as you are willing to be creative with it.
