Christmas Eve Candlelight Worship and Communion
Saturday, December 24 | 4:00pm | Sanctuary
Bring your friends and family as we celebrate the coming of Christ.  This worship service will include your favorite Christmas carols, the reading of Luke’s Christmas story, a Christmas message, Holy Communion, and candlelight that leads us out to shine Christ’s light into the darkness of the world.  All are welcome!

Christmas Day - Birthday Party!
Sunday, December 25 | 11:00am | Fellowship Hall
We’ll celebrate the birth of Christ in a fun and festive way with a birthday cake for our Savior, singing Christmas carols, laughter, and fellowship.  Come casual … maybe even wear that tacky Christmas sweater … and bring your family and friends.  Individuals and families are all welcome.

End of Year - Financial Update

2016 has been a good year for our congregation. In December alone, we tutored 18 second grade students through the STAIR program, provided Christmas gifts for six children, opened our doors as a warming station to 11 women on two cold nights, served food to 56 families through our co-op ministry, and had a community Christmas carnival with Santa and games.

Your gifts and support are needed to finish the year strong.  We’re currently looking at a $16,000-20,000 deficit. Please consider a year-end contribution to help us end the year in the black.  All gifts are tax deductible.

We welcome your donations through the giving page on the church website. You can also give the old-fashioned way by dropping your check in the Sunday morning offering plate or mailing it to the church … 500 Fortieth Street South, Birmingham, 35222.  To receive 2016 tax credit, all donations must be postmarked or received online by December 31, 2016.

2017 Annual Pledges

As Avondale UMC prepares for a new year, it is important to know what support we can depend on from our congregation members. By knowing what you are willing to commit financially, we are able to better plan for the future of our mission and ministries. Please prayerfully consider making a 2017 pledge to the church.  So far, we’ve received about half of our usual pledges for a given year. To make your 2017 pledge, you can go online, pick up a commitment card at church, or call Lesia in the church office (205.592.3739) to have her mail one to you.  Help us sustain our growing mission and ministry efforts in Avondale as we connect with God, with each other, and with our neighbors.
