Still Eagle

Thank you for all of your support this year. Still Eagle and Echo have experienced some great highs and some lows, and we are so grateful you were here with us all the way!

We want to share with you some of our favourite moments from 2016:

We celebrated
Still Eagle's 25th birthday!
We can hardly believe it too! Starting as an eco-activist store a quarter century ago in 1991, we were Nelson's first eco-store promoting natural, hemp, organic, local, and fair trade alternatives. And we keep soaring thanks to the support of customers and producers. Thank you!!

New suppliers
We welcomed a number of new suppliers to our potpourri of environmental, sustainable lines.....

LightBox Projects - a new company, founded by Calgarians wanting to escape the oil and money culture and create something artistic and meaningful. We’re pleased to carry their “nature meets technology” selection in our store and on our website. Desk top, wall mounted, box shaped or pyramid, these laser cut oak creations come with a remote to adjust the speed and colour of the glowing LED's. Hours of fun. Click here!

Sacred Journey closed their Baker Street store at the end of 2015, and brought many of their beautiful designs to both Echo and Still Eagle on consignment. Teak furniture, sculptures and art, ceramic bowls and yoga cushions and pillows.

Bastine filled the walls of Echo last summer. This line is made of environmentally sustainable materials like hemp, organic cotton and recycled fiber. It's produced by the same factory that made our Nomads line in past years. Click here to see our Bastine range.

Boody Bamboo Wear
.

We found a half dozen new lines from our ecological distributor DEBUT, Most notably this rack of bamboo under garments and t-shirts.Good prices, great quality, and happy customer feedback.

Baba Baskets has added yet another new basket style to the growing selection of shopping baskets, laundry baskets, bicycle baskets. This year, it was a baby bassinette - the MOSES BASKET. Great for tiny humans or pets!

Sad news too...
Into each life, a little rain must fall. 2016 had it's sad moments as well. We lost a community cat and a long-time supplier.

R.I.P. Izzy
The famous Baker Street cat Izzy, who has spent years wandering from storefront to storefront and has spent extra time at Still Eagle, dutifully leaving hairs on our carpets, rugs and towels, passed away this year and will be missed.

Last chance for Nomads
For 10 years, we've been promoting the Nomads line in our store, on our website and to several dozen wholesale customers across Canada. It's been one of our more popular lines but Nomads, hit by the rising US dollar have taken the wholesale and retail business from us in order to sell their line themselves. This was not our choice, and we tired several ways of making it work for both parties, but to no avail. We still have some Nomads stock, thanks to our friends in other places. Our remaining Nomads will be discounted. See it online here

Enlightened Coconut brings
vegan treats to our back alley!

This incredible food truck became our neighbour out the back this fall and provided us and our customers with delicious vegan desserts, meals and smoothies. Our staff swear by the pumpkin pie, which is more of a meal than a dessert! The truck is away for the winter but will start up again when the weather breaks in March or April.
