Este ha sido un trimestre largo y lleno de acontecimientos y no puedo expresar con palabras el orgullo que siento de ser viajera en el tren de BSV, tren que circula sin parar en un viaje emocionante.
Los niños han trabajado y disfrutado muchísimo este trimestre y ahora esperan con entusiasmo un descanso bien merecido durante las vacaciones de Navidad. Como siempre, muchos de ellos han conseguido logros impresionantes, tanto dentro como fuera del aula y felicito a todos y a cada uno de ellos por su arduo trabajo y dedicación a lo largo de este período.
Me gustaría agradecer a mi equipo, comprometido y trabajador, por su lealtad continua. Realmente es un esfuerzo de equipo trabajar en BSV. La devoción de mi personal docente hacia sus estudiantes es insuperable y sin el apoyo continuo del equipo de administración, equipo de limpieza y personal de comedor, nuestro ejército BSV podría lograr muy poco.
Les deseo a todos una muy, muy Feliz Navidad y espero que los Reyes Magos les traigan todo lo que sus corazones desean.
Les deseo un año nuevo lleno de paz y felicidad.

Dear Parents,
This has indeed been a long and eventful term and I am prouder than words can express to be a part of the BSV train as it continues on its exciting journey.
The children have worked and played extremely hard this term and are now looking forward to a well-deserved break over the Christmas holidays. As ever, many of them have made impressive achievements, both in and out of the classroom and I congratulate each and every one of them on their hard work and dedication throughout the term.
I would like to thank my committed and hard-working staff for their continued loyalty. It truly is a team effort working here at BSV. The devotion of my teaching staff to their students is second to none and without the continued support of the administration, cleaning and catering staff, our BSV army would accomplish very little.
I wish you all a very, very Happy Christmas and hope that the Three Kings bring you all everything that your hearts desire.

CLIFTON EXCHANGE
It was with some trepidation that nineteen young students and two staff gathered at Castellón Airport in the early hours of October 12th for an ‘adventures of a lifetime’. We were going to spend a week as guests of Cilfton College a leading independent school in Bristol, England. This inaugural exchange was organized for the Year 8 pupils primarily to inspire our young students to be more aware of a global perspective regarding schools and to help them become more familiar with the nuances of the English language. To that end, we were going to immerse them into an English Boarding School and support them whilst they either stayed with their host family or within a boarding house. Bristol provided an example of a historic and beautiful city in which they would, we hope, listen and learn and be inspired amidst such stunning surroundings.
We were most fortunate regarding the weather: when the sun shone, as it did for most of our visit it certainly gave an impressive view of the architectural wonders of Bath, this most ancient of cities. To see Clifton College bathed in sunlight and the rays of the sun shining forth through the Rose window in the College Chapel will be one of the many memories the children will not forget.
The itinerary had been carefully considered: some of the highlights were probably the fascinating visit to the S.S. Great Britain (the first iron-hulled steam driven ship in the world) designed by I.K. Brunel (an engineer from Bristol) a school rugby match were they enthusiastically cheered on the Clifton boys: the busy weekend when they stayed with their host families or boarding communities, the visit to Bristol Zoo and the rope climbing experience: the firing of their very own rocket and possibly the ‘Forest School’ where they discovered, amongst other things how to shoot with a bow and arrow.
The blossoming of new friendships and the realization that they had indeed been most fortunate to have experienced such an ‘adventure’ certainly showed as we returned to sunny Spain after a wonderful week. Their English had improved, and they had been shown a glimpse of how a different school, albeit in alternative surrounding had a similar ethos and benefits as our very own British School of Vila-real!

INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY FAIR IN THE BRITISH SCHOOL OF VILA-REAL
El pasado jueves, 1 de diciembre, The British School of Vila-real realizó una Feria de Universidades Internacionales con la ayuda de SRT Student Recruitment Tours. Por primera vez en la historia del Colegio y de la ciudad de Vila-real, 33 universidades de 15 países de todo el mundo, visitaron nuestro centro para darnos a conocer su oferta educativa. Todos los alumnos pudieron hablar cara a cara con los representantes de las diferentes instituciones de educación superior. Tuvimos el honor de recibir a personas relacionadas directamente con el mundo educativo, tales como a la Alcaldesa de Burriana, Dª María José Safont, a la actual concejala de Educación de Vila-real, Mónica Mañas Marín, que asistió acompañada de su compañera del equipo de gobierno y a la concejala de Igualdad, Universidad Popular y Familia, Rosario Royo Navarro.
ESCUELA DE PADRES EN BSV
Este trimestre hemos reiniciado la Escuela de Padres con un éxito espectacular. Consideramos de vital importancia ampliar la formación en materia educativa al primer y más importante referente para los niños que son sus padres.
Con este objetivo, hemos organizado un programa de charlas temáticas para las que contamos con diferentes profesionales expertos en los diversos temas a tratar.
Para este primer trimestre hemos considerado oportuno extender a la formación de los padres algunos contenidos trabajados por los estudiantes con la siguiente programación:
- Mejora de la Convivecia y prevención del Bullying. Impartida por el agente de la Polícia Local de Vila-real, Gregorio Requena. En la charla profundizamos en las claves para prevenir conductas de acoso y en favorecer actitudes de respeto y tolerancia hacia los demás. Desde hace varios cursos los alumnos de Year 8 y Year 10 han participado en esta actividad con el citado experto.
- Inteligencia Emocional para Padres. En este caso contamos con la colaboración de la organización DESATA TU POTENCIAL formada por voluntarios instruidos en Psicología Positiva. El objetivo fue desarrollar estrategias educativas a través del manejo emocional y afectivo. El taller fue desarrollado por la psicopedagoga del centro, Paloma Sales, y Jose Luis Saura ambos colaboradores de la asociación. Al mismo tiempo, desde el curso pasado estamos introduciendo progresivamente el Aprendizaje Emocional en el aula a través de talleres en los que los alumnos toman conciencia de su crecimiento personal.

CHARLA DE CARLOS RAMÍREZ EN BSV
Carlos Ramírez, uno de nuestros antiguos alumnos, visitó el colegio el pasado 21 de diciembre, para dar una charla sobre su experiencia como estudiante en Estados Unidos, y sobre las becas deportivas en Universidades Americanas.
En la actualidad, Carlos está jugando a fútbol y cursando sus estudios en “Winthrop University”, universidad localizada en la ciudad de “City of Rock Hill”, en Carolina del Sur. Carlos está estudiando un doble grado en “International Business and Management”, y tiene una beca deportiva en fútbol. “Winthrop University” es una de las mejores universidades del Sur.
Queremos agradecer a Carlos su visita y el esfuerzo que ha hecho por preparar su charla que ha sido muy informativa y orientativa para nuestros alumnos de Bachillerato que ya están pensando en acceder a universidades americanas ¡Gracias Carlos! Esperamos que sigas visitando tu colegio en el futuro y te deseamos lo mejor en tu carrera.

EXPOSICIÓN DE ARTE DE BSV EN EL MUSEU DE CERÀMICA DE ALCORA
Earlier this term, Year 10 and 11 (and a few Year 12 and 13) Art students, went on a trip to Alcora; a well-known town in the ceramic industry. The importance of art and culture there is noticable with, amongst other things, its Ceramics Museum. We visited the company Art Antic and saw how artistic murals were made by hand. We collected prints from textures in town and used those afterwards in the creation of our clay sculptures and tiles that we made in the museum's workshop.
We are delighted to announce that an art exhibition showcasing of our work is now exposed in the Ceramics Museum of Alcora until the 9th of January 2017.

Queremos felicitar a nuestro alumno Daniel Villaplana de Year 6 por el trabajo que ha realizado con su ilustración para la tarjeta navideña de BSV de este año. Daniel ha sido el campeón del concurso pero tenemos que decir que todos los alumnos han presentado unos dibujos fabulosos con mucho contenido y significado. Ha sido muy dificil elegir uno. Esperamos que para el curso que viene sigamos realizando esta competición que gusta mucho a nuestros alumnos.
