TANGLED TIES UP £5.1M

Finally knocking The King’s Speech off the top of the Box Office this weekend was Disney’s 50th animated feature film, Tangled.

Grossing £5.1m in its first three days in the UK, it is the biggest opening result of 2011 so far. Box Office last weekend was up an impressive 28% on the same weekend in 2010, despite Avatar’s huge success in January of last year.

Tangled, Disney’s take on the Brother’s Grimm fairytale Rapunzel, more than doubled the Box Office of Disney’s last animated release, The Princess and the Frog, which began its run just under a year ago with £2.2m.
SUPERMAN

BRIT BOYS ARE SUPERHEROES

They're famous American superheroes - yet the likes of Batman, Spiderman and now Superman are all being played by British actors. The latest to sign on as a superhero is Tudors star Henry Cavill who will slip into the famous red pants and cape for 2012's Superman: Man of Steel.

Cavill is the latest British actor to steal the lead in a superhero movie. First was Christian Bale when he donned caped crusader Batman's garb in the first two of a new, darker series of movies about Gotham's finest. He is set to star in the third instalment of Christopher Nolan's film, The Dark Knight Rises.

And last year, newcomer Andrew Garfield was signed up for the new Spiderman movie - directed by Marc Webb.
