Kyle Housing Authority seeks Executive Director
The newly appointed board of directors for the Kyle Housing Authority requested help in spreading the word about its search for an interim executive director. Once on board, KHA will then begin its search for a permanent executive director. KHA is not a city board, however, the mayor has authority by state statute to appoint the board of directors. Contact one of the KHA board members with a nomination for the executive director position.
Keeping your home safe this holiday season

Below are some tips for keeping your home safe this season, courtesy of the Kyle Police Department:
  • Call KPD for a vacation home watch while you're out of town.
  • Arrange for delivered packages to be picked up by a trusted friend or family member or have packages delivered to your work address.
  • Consider not putting Christmas gifts under the tree for anyone to see through open windows/curtains.
  • Keep garage and shed doors closed and locked even when you're home.
  • Consider installing an internet-connected doorbell monitor that allows you to talk with people at your door and record activity.
  • Identify anyone at the door before opening, including delivery company personnel.
  • Don't place empty boxes (i.e., large screen TVs, game machines, etc.) out for trash pick up.
Get Water Wise
& Sewer Savvy

Ever wondered how to stay up to date with the latest water conservation measures?  Or if a certain material is safe to dispose of in the sanitary sewer? How about the planned waste water treatment plant expansion? As our city grows, residents need simple, concise answers to those sort of questions. That is the goal of Water Wise and Sewer Savvy, the city’s newest outreach education effort.
We want to help our citizens be informed and to make good decisions about how they participate in the use of our water resources and the needs of responsible sewer operations.

Learn more and become water wise & sewer savvy on our website at www.kylewaterwiseandsewersavvy.com.

End the Streak of highway fatalities

At least one fatality has occurred each and every day on Texas roadways since Nov. 7, 2000. That is a minimum of 365 deaths each year. The leading causes of fatalities continue to be failure to stay in one lane, alcohol and speed.
In an effort to end this deadly 16-year streak, the Texas Department of Transportation, through its #EndTheStreakTX campaign, reminds drivers to stay alert, obey traffic laws and take personal responsibility behind the wheel.

Kyle Police Department fully supports #EndTheStreakTX and encourages all drivers to help make the campaign a success.

Since Nov. 7, 2000, fatalities resulting from motor vehicle crashes on Texas roadways have numbered 55,578. To decrease the chances of roadway crashes and fatalities, TxDOT reminds drivers to:

*Buckle seatbelts – all passengers need to be buckled
*Pay attention – put phone away and avoid distractions
*Never drink and drive – drunk driving kills; get a sober ride home
*Drive the speed limit – obey speed limits and drive slower when weather conditions warrant

City-wide clean-up

Recycle that Christmas tree!
Your Kyle Parks & Recreation Department is once again setting up Christmas tree recycling locations around town. They will have sites in Waterleaf, Steeplechase, Gregg-Clarke Park and on Kohlers Crossing in front of the water tower.

All trees need to be free of wire and ornaments as we don't want to damage our chipper. Please be sure to only recycle trees, no landscape debris.

Drop off through Jan. 31, 2017. Must be free of all lights, decorations, etc.
