Try to take some time to relax over the holidays and if you need some tips read my suggestions below.

Ten ways to relax over the holidays:

1.       Go for a walk or walk farther than you usually do.  Breathe in the fresh cool air and be mindful that you live in Canada where you can walk freely and safely.

2.       Add more vegetables to your plate.  Go for the extra helping of broccoli, carrots or beans.  In this season of excess eating, be excessive with vegetables.

3.       Smile at yourself in the mirror.  Tell yourself that you are doing a good job and strive for happiness.

4.       Sleep in if you usually get up early.  Replenish your sleep debt.

5.       Unwind with a Christmas movie or something that you usually don’t take time to watch.

6.       Be thankful that you own a computer, have good food to eat and a break from work.

7.       If you have family to spend the holidays with, take the time to thank them for being in your life and be aware that many people have no family or very little family to share the holidays with.

8.       Ask the universe to you send you good health and happiness.

9.       Give to others.  It feels good and is rewarding to give to others, whether it be through the Salvation Army Kettle or a toy donation to the Children’s Aid Society.  If you have the means to do it please pay it forward.

10.   Ignore your phone and or social media for at least a few hours or even a whole day.  A break from social media is a de-stresser.

What are my predictions for 2017?

I gave a presentation at a breakfast meeting this week about HR Partners 4 Business.  I was happy to share that I will be teaching in the HR Program at Fanshawe College in London in January, continuing a trend of teaching at Fanshawe for about ten years now.

I explained the benefits of using a Human Resources Professional and gave my predictions for 2017.

Based on my many years in Human Resources and given the current climate around Mental Health I predict that employers will be required to pay more attention to employees who may have mental health issues.  I believe that the responsibilities employers have under the IRS (Internal Responsibility System) will grow to encompass the mental health of employees.   You can create unique layouts by placing a variety of content blocks in different sections of your template.

If you are concerned about your employees give me a call and we can discuss how to best approach the situation.

Wishing you a relaxing holiday season so that you are ready to tackle all that 2017 will bring.
