We’re delighted to welcome Eric Daimler to the Robot Garden’s Board of Advisors. Eric is the White House Presidential Innovation Fellow for the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) with a mandate to advise the President on all things relating to technology, robotics and AI. Eric is also the founder of The Robotics Hub, a new robotics venture fund. A graduate of both Stanford and Carnegie Mellon Universities, Eric continues to spend his time jetting between east and west coasts.

Robot Garden will benefit from Eric’s incredible connections and insights into the leading edge of robotics and AI, and his understanding of the surrounding ecosystem of commercialization and education. We hope Eric will help us position Robot Garden, not just as a makerspace but as a thought leader in the robotics community, and the informal skill development of the 21st century workforce.

He will be joined by Brandon Cardwell, the Executive Director of the i-Gate Innovation Hub. i-Gate Innovation Hub leads Tri-Valley entrepreneurial activities. If you’ve visited Robot Garden then you’ve visited i-Gate’s flagship facility The Switch, which is home not just to Robot Garden and professional prototype facilities but a place where entrepreneurs can access hot desks, mentoring, and labs space. Several of the startups are doing very advanced technology transfer from the National Laboratories.

We are actively looking for additional Board of Adviser members who can bring certain skills to Robot Garden; governance, sponsorship, entrepreneurship, community outreach, education and of course, robotics.

Curious to learn more about what a Presidential Innovation Fellow does? Here’s a great article from Carnegie Mellon University about Eric’s role in reshaping the US policy landscape.

“The PIF brings a combination of a founder’s sensibility in creating with limited resources, a consultant’s skill of quickly forming solutions within agile teams and an executive’s comfort from experience in navigating ambiguity,” Daimler said.

Visit us tonight and celebrate at the Bots&Beer meetup organized by Silicon Valley Robotics. Special guests will be Anki’s Cozmo robot.
