ARTHUR BOYD

Born into an illustrious family of artists, painting to Arthur Boyd was as natural - and perhaps as necessary - as breathing. The mark he made on the art world in both Australia and overseas was an exceptional one and he remains one of our most respected and well known artists to date.

For over fifty years, Boyd painted the Australian landscape in its many guises, with a unique richness and vitality in a style distinctly his own. His work is synonymous with the Shoalhaven River area of southern New South Wales. Boyd's previous home in Bundanon now plays the role of a mecca for art lovers, artists and performers, offering the beauty of its natural landscape to all.

GILLIE + MARC

Husband and wife team Gillie and Marc are Australian contemporary artists who collaborate to create art as one, applying the iconic imagery of the dog/human hybrid to celebrate the powerful spiritual relationship that exists between man and animal.

Gillie and Marc reference their own remarkable love story in their works, perpetuating a pursuit of happiness and encouraging us to challenge the status quo and the perceived safety of societal convention. Berkeley Editions are excited to offer a range of their latest works here.

DAVID LARWILL

David Larwill was born in 1956 in Ballarat, Victoria. His playful painting style had a distinct expressionistic and figurative quality. Larwill's influences came from a diverse range of movements including tribal art, aboriginal art and abstracted figuration of the 1940’s and 1950’s.

Controlled, sophisticated and characterised by their simplified forms and overall geometric patterns, Larwill’s paintings became well sort after as his popularity grew throughout the 1980's and 1990's, and then into this century. He was an artist who had harnessed and refined his emotional desire to put paint on canvas - enabling him to produce works motivated by emotion and executed in a mature, considered and polished manner.

Larwill was a truely talented artist whose untimely death at age 54 was a sad loss to the art world, both locally and internationally.
