After a whirlwind year, we are looking back as we prepare for the longest night.
In our Winter Solstice newsletter last year we spoke of the incredible water protector Autumn Peltier. Recently, she prepared another speech asking the Prime Minister to keep his word and protect the water.
The incredible young speaker (above) Autumn Peltier is from Wikwemikong, as is former IPAA Administrator Lena Recollet who continues her career as a spoken word / stand up artist as well as teaching Anishinabemowin through the arts.
Other administrators who spent time in our office this year include:
Janet Antone who has increased our newsletters from every solstice and equinox to monthly digests and continues to impress with her design skills for IPAA's marketing.
Tyler Marsden started as our Operations Coordinator this month and will ensure our office has the foundation we need to claim space for all Indigenous performing artists.
Brittany Ryan completes her last day as Operations Manager at the Alliance today. With her production and arts admin skills we achieved many goals including bringing our Intertribal Gathering to the Yukon in October.
Olivia Shortt is pursuing her Master's in Music and provided support in the summer months creating the website for our northern Intertribal Gathering in Dakwäkäda (Haines Junction, Yukon), traditional and self-governed territories of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations.
Gitchi Meegwetch to the staff, Grand Council [Board of Directors] and our volunteers who support us in advocating for our community of artists.
