Celebrating a Successful Year and Looking Forward to a Prosperous 2017
By Rob Maphis, WOCC Chairman
It is hard to believe that we are already wrapping up another successful year of building business and facilitating opportunity at the West Orange Chamber. The Chamber was able to accomplish many great things in 2016, including growing membership, building upon our premier events, welcoming plenty of new faces to West Orange and advocating for causes that will positively influence our business community.
I handed off the Chairman’s gavel to Keith Bradford during our recent Membership Appreciation Breakfast, so this will be the last of my articles as the Chamber Chairman. This is a truly bittersweet departure for me. On one hand, I will miss being Chair of an organization with a tremendous Board and an outstanding staff who always give their heart and soul to this community. However, I am also pleased that the incoming Chairman is Keith Bradford, as he is an extraordinarily capable and talented leader who will serve us well. Additionally, as Vice President of Disney Springs, Keith is uniquely qualified to lead the Chamber’s 45th year, because Disney is also celebrating its 45th year right now.
The Chamber’s leadership team is key to the ongoing success of this organization, so we are tremendously grateful to those business leaders who give of their time and talents to serve on the Chamber Board. During our Membership Breakfast we recognized a number of our board members who helped lead this organization over the course of this past year. We also said goodbye to outgoing board members, including Commissioner Scott Boyd, Dorcas Dillard, Mansour Garemani, Greg Ohe, Bobby Olszewski, Cece Rivers, Jon White and Bruce Young. We sincerely appreciate those board members for their service and dedication throughout the years.
We also welcomed a group of incoming board members to help lead the Chamber into the future. Cynthia Cardona, Dale Fitch, Frank Gilbert, Mark Marsh, J.T. McWalters and Orange County Commissioner Bryan Nelson all have joined the Board of Directors for 2017. These new board members will soon be sharing their talents to further facilitate opportunities for Chamber members.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Chamber Team, I wish you all a wonderful holiday season and a very prosperous and happy New Year. Merry Christmas!
Sincerely,
Rob Maphis
