Dear Parents,

Welcome back! I hope that you all have a good Christmas and New Year. We would like to say a huge thank you for all the lovely gifts and money towards a meal out that you gave us for Christmas, they were very my appreciated.

We have some new children joining the cottage over the next week, and we would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our extended family.

Nativity & Christmas Events
What an amazing performance the children put on at the Nativity play, they all behaved beautifully making us very proud of them. Coming soon photographs from the event will be on sale at £1 each photo. Plus the C.D. from the performance which will costing £5.  I will email you when they are available, the photo's will be by the children's computers, just fill out an order form along with your payment.                   The raffle at our Nativity raised £120 and £97.15 from the refreshment donations. We also raised £51 from the sales of the T-towels and are just waiting on our percentage from Tempest Photography. Thank you so much for supporting these great events, they take a lot of hard work and organising from our staff, so big thank you all of the Cottage Team for a job well done!

We are fundraising this year to replace some of the outside toys / equipment with the possibility of buying a camera bird box to enhance the children's learning. All fundraising events this year will go into our fundraising account for these projects.

Staff Updates
Hayley Cook has gone on maternity leave, we would like to thank her for helping out over the last year and wish her all the best for her new arrival.  Lucy Potter who has been working full time in school last term will be returning to her Monday and Wednesday afternoon sessions.

Extra Sessions
If you would like your child to do any more afternoon sessions, please speak to Sharren. All the morning sessions are full now.

Tapestry
If you are having any problems with your Tapestry on-line learning journal account, please speak to Sharren or Carol who will be happy to go through the process with you.

Requests
Breakfast has become very popular with 24 children attending some mornings.  If you would like your child to eat breakfast at Cottage, please bring them in no later than 8.15am this allows just enough time for children to eat before we take them over to school at 8.30am. Thank you.

Fees
Just a polite reminder that fees are due on the 14th of each month, please ensure they are paid in full by this date to avoid a late fee. Thank you.

Notice Board
If you have anything you would like to sell especially toys, we are going to use the shed windows by the entrance gate as a notice board. All we ask is for a donation that will go into our fundraising account.

Reminders

  • Telephone numbers: Please make sure all emergency and contact details are up to date. We do have a Snow Call List in the event of closer due to bad weather. If the school is closed Cottage is closed, you can check on-line on the Dorset County Council website for information.
  • Late payment fee: Please ensure your invoice is paid by 14th of each month, failure to do so will result in a £10 late payment fee.
  • Illness: Please avoid bringing your child into the setting with any contagious illness i.e. Chicken Pox, conjunctivitis, sickness and diarrhoea or if your child is clearly not well. It is a Government recommendation that 48 hour elapses after suffering diarrhoea or sickness before returning to the setting to avoid the spread of germs.
  • Egg Allergy: Just a quick reminder that we do have a child with a severe allergy to eggs, this is both in raw form including touching the shell as well as cooked eggs or products containing eggs. Please do not send egg sandwiches or scotch eggs etc in your child’s lunch box. Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter.
  • Nut Allergy: Please avoid sending any foods containing nuts or nut products in your child’s lunch box as nut allergies are becoming increasingly common and even the slightest contact with nut products can be dangerous to those children affected. Just to clarify chocolate spread also contain nuts.
  • Please make sure grapes and cherry tomatoes are cut in half this is to avoid choking.
  • Dropping off and Picking up: Please make every effort to be on time when dropping off and picking up your child (from 5 minutes before session ends and up to 5 minutes after) as this keeps disruption to a minimum and avoids unsettling the new children.  We also need to keep our staffing levels to the correct adult/child ratio. Please note we need to be informed if anyone else is collecting your child other than the normal people for security reason.
