Lesson 2027: The Source of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a central theme in the New Testament.

But some in today’s church make it an optional event, once a year in November. We think that good Christians might sometimes be thankful.

We rarely recognize that all Christians are responsible to be thankful.

Thanksgiving Is the Result of the Spirit-Filled Life
When the Spirit of God is in control in your life, you have a thankful spirit.

Eph.5:18-20   be filled with the Spirit…always giving thanks to God the Father for everything.

Thanksgiving Is the Result of the Word-Filled Life
Col.3:15-16 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts… And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.

If you are filled with the Word of God, you are grateful. Read the letters that Paul wrote to the churches he started.

The same Holy Spirit that empowered Paul is indwelling every believer. The same Bible that Paul read and wrote is available to us. We have books written after Paul died.

The key to Paul’s greatness was that he had a spirit of gratitude.
