Looking back, looking forward. After all the reflecting on last year and organizing for this year, our community seems to now be setting down to actually sew. I somehow timed it right and head into 2017 with just a couple of wips, so I don't feel too weighed down. Step by step, I'm working to get them done, and look forward to whatever is next, that which I do not know.....

WHAT'S UP

My biggest sewing accomplishment in December was to make a set of Maker's Totes for my daughter and 6-year-od granddaughter. Bags aren't necessarily my comfort zone, but having made one Maker's tote before, I was pretty sure I could manage this duo. Noodlehead's patterns are always clear and so doable, especially when tackled one step at a time.

In other news, I'm saying goodbye to co-hosting the Finish-A-Long, though I really did enjoy it last year. It was nice I was scheduled to share during Q4 Tutorial Week, and I was happy to finally present my method for Organic Straight-Line Quilting.

I also wrapped up my year of Mighty Lucky Quilting Club challenges with a "palette cleanser" that was so refreshing.

And I discovered a new-to-me cookie recipe that was THAT good. Named World Peace Cookies, they definitely can't hurt!

WORTH A READ

ROUND-UP

It was my own Crop Circles that really sparked my interest in quilts with circles. I was playing with the many uses of my Clammy ruler after first using it to make a clamshell quilt. Circles had been kind of scary before, but this quilt cured me, and now I'm thinking maybe another variation  just might be in order.

Diane/Random Thoughts...do or "di"'s stunning Tropical Sunset quilt takes the use of partial circles even further with her striking palette.

Spin, one of many circle-inspired quilts by Leanne/she can quilt, gives just a hint of circles with the use of low-volume prints and quarter-circle blocks.

Terry/Terry Aske Art Quilt Studio's also often focuses on the circle in her striking and modern creations, such as Off-Center. Be sure and peruse her Gallery for many more. [terryaskeartquilts]

Karen/[quiltaposy] watched a Missouri Star Quilt Company tutorial to learn the raw-edge circle technique she used in her Briar Rose quilt, where she added sixteen patches for fun and to make it her own.

Sophie/Luna Lovequilts
Representative Mini Quilt took the basic hand-appliqued circle into new territory with her unique and modern composition. See the Quilts tab on Sophie's blog for many more delightful quilts with circles. [lunalovequilts]
Rachel/Snippets of Sweetness was inspired by Carolyn Friedlander's pattern in making her Aerial Grove Table Runner, using circles cut free-hand (aka "squirkles") and hand-applique. [snippetsofsweetness]

Can't leave you without sharing a variety of circle tutorials, right?

Jessica/Quilty Habit started an interesting conversation when she shared Why I Quilt My Own Quilts, and it was good to see reader responses in Why YOU Quilt Your Quilts - A Follow Up Post
