After a memorable end of season lunch, festive Christmas paddle and Cinderella catwalk competition, we enjoyed two weeks break before returning for the first training of the new year on Sunday 8th January. Welcome back, team!
Also, a warm welcome to our newest Ragers Lucas, Ange and Arnie. Great to have you guys on board! We hope you're looking forward to your first season with Rage – may there be many more to come :)

Henley Racing and Wrestling
|
|
Rage attended all Henley Winter Series events this year. Some exciting racing took place – our most memorable event was the finale, where we took a tight turn around the island...and battled it out firstly with Wraysbury to our right on the home stretch, followed by Henley to our left a while later as both boats shot through the arches. Oncoming rowers appeared on the other side of the bridge, leaving Henley facing a possible head-on crash. This is when helms have to think quick on their feet...
Pete (Gandalf the Great) held our line and ensured any boats alongside us had to work hard to gain any ground. Gandalf lived up to his name yet again – with him on board, other crews 'shall not pass'...at least not without a serious fight on their hands :D
Rage finished up 5th overall on the Henley table against some very strong crews. A solid effort was made by all. Well done, team.

Happy New Year of the Rooster!
|
|
Many thanks to Jess and Johnny for organising our Rage Chinese New Year family feast. We celebrated an upcoming year of health, happiness and good fortune – over food and impending fatness... :D
We celebrated on Chinese New Year's Eve, when people traditionally come together for family reunions. We enjoyed a banquet of lobster noodles, crab maw soup, roast duck, chicken, fish, jellyfish, stuffed tofu, and veges with three kinds of egg.

|
Sanj played DJ for our karaoke mix and we blasted out some tunes to retro video backdrops (which at times showcased hilarious acting)...all part of the authentic Chinese karaoke venue experience :D
Thanks for a great night in great company – happy new year of the Rooster, everyone :)

What better way to start the new year than with some great news? :)
After many happy years together, Janny and Phil recently decided to officially tie the knot back home in New Zealand in December. Meanwhile, Taylor left for the sunny shores of Australia with a girlfriend – and returned with a fiancée.
Congratulations Janny and Phil, Taylor and Libby! Much love from us all.

One month into the new year and we've welcomed new Ragers, enjoyed a club family dinner and seen great attendance at winter training. Thank you for putting it in and turning up for each other :)
Race season is just around the corner. Our first race event is in Stockton and we have just a matter of weeks to work on our technique and stamina. Jojo has kindly made tentative accommodation arrangements for us already. Please confirm your attendance to make it easier for her to finalise bookings and to help Jo Tang coordinate logistics (car pooling, race entry details, etc).
The year's off to a good start already – together we can make a great season out of 2017.
Rage as one
Vic and Jen.
