Tips for a happier healthier family

January 2017

The New Year is a time to take stock, reflect on the habits we have fallen into (good and bad) and make choices. Looking after yourself is one of the key principles of positive parenting - it is much harder to rise to the challenges of parenting if we don't take care of our own needs. So this month we have a little gift for you in the form of a guided meditation to help you relax (it will work for your children too!). If setting goals around work-life balance is one of your resolutions, then you will enjoy this post on how to stop juggling and start living. There is a review of a new parenting book brilliantly titled The Guilt-Free Guide to Motherhood plus practical guides on tacking toddlers who are picky eaters and managing teenagers' sleep patterns
Wishing you a Happy Healthy New Year from The Positive Parenting Project!

Time to stop juggling and start living?
If you really want to address your work-life balance you will need to do some uncomfortable thinking. This new book by Kirsten Toyne is a great antidote to that guilt-inducing search for perfection. A great read for new and expectant mothers.  Read more...

Help your teen get a good night's sleep
The thing about teenagers and sleep is that they need a lot of it. But they don't always want it (or they don't want it at times that fit in with the rest of the world's schedule!). Helping teenagers to develop healthy sleep habits can make a major contribution to their overall wellbeing and success. So here are a few thoughts on how parents can help.  Read more...
