What A Year!
Chula League has had quite a year of growth. This past spring we hired Executive Director, Ann Flemings, and she has really helped our board spread our wings. Our Amplify Austin campaign was our most successful to date raising $4,930 (from just 93 donors!) — thank you for contributing to our mission! With your donations and the help of the City of Austin, we’ve been able to lay the ground work for expanding our Little Artist BIG ARTIST (LaBA) program to two more east Austin elementary schools in 2017. We added Professional Development workshops to our programming, and each workshop sold out quickly. Our 15th annual Cherrywood Art Fair drew it’s biggest crowd, yet, expanding our reach to Austin, Central Texas, and beyond.

Little Artist BIG artist
With the expansion of our LaBA program, our annual Little Artist BIG ARTIST art exhibit — showcasing artwork from all 40 little artists alongside their BIG ARTIST mentors — will be moving to the Dougherty Arts Center in Spring 2017. It’s an exciting time to be a part of Chula League!

We have even more in the works for 2018 — yes, we plan that far ahead.
Through our Little Artist BIG ARTIST program we teach kids in East Austin how to turn an idea into art, and art into a business. Our Professional Development workshops help artists strengthen and grow their business. Cherrywood Art Fair offers an affordable option for artists to sell their work at a well attended show. We work full circle to help fuel and sustain the arts in Austin. We are so grateful for your support of our mission, and would love for Chula League to be on your year-end donation list. With your donations we can continue to help emerging and established artists — from elementary school through adulthood — explore and expand their art experiences and business savvy. If you have the time, you can also help by becoming a board member. We are currently in need of a new Treasurer and people with grant writing, design, and marketing skills. Not a match with those skills? Not to worry, a big heart and time to share are the most important traits to have. Come join a fun, passionate, hardworking board dedicated to the arts community in Austin. Thank you for your support for Chula League, we couldn’t have done it without you! Here’s to more art in 2017!

Today’s artists mentoring tomorrow’s. Our LaBA program pairs East Austin elementary school students with professional artists who show kids how to turn ideas into art and art into a business that ends with an art exhibit, and pieces are auctioned at the fair.
