Chinese Patents Climb Higher on Value Chain
China’s Shandong province recently announced 15 core technologies developed and patented by local companies. Each core technology is supported by several primary and numerous secondary supporting patents. The patented technologies are essential in industries such as high-end manufacturing, materials, energy, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture, including new species of plants.
One example patented technology is expected to break foreign countries monopoly on high-end servers. Other patents cover cutting edge technologies in the internet of things sector. Shandong province, which has originated each of these new technologies has gained special recognition from the China State Intellectual Property Office’s pilot project to increase Intellectual Property protection in the province.
Foreign companies should keep in mind that Chinese companies are now presenting great competition for intellectual property development and patent registration. Companies with new inventions should have China high on the list of countries to file for patent protection in.
The rise in native Chinese patents has accelerated trends in China in favor of strong Intellectual Property laws and better enforcement. Foreign companies can take advantage of this by registering their patents in China.
