Dear all,

Are you one of those dancers or parents who has been getting this newsletter for years?

Maybe you've thought about working with me, but have never been in touch?

Maybe your dancer is in need of some mentoring or is actively struggling in some areas?

Well, I'm glad you're reading and I'm here to help. As motivation to leap happily into 2017, I've created a special offer for my loyal readers:

The first 10 people to book a Discovery Session with me by January 20, will receive $275 off of my Signature 6-month Program. Just click here to fill out the application and book your phone session with me. It's that easy.

The start of a New Year can bring mixed emotions: on the one hand you can feel energized and motivated; on the other hand, knowing where to start can feel intimidating, even paralyzing.

Don't get stuck. Together we can create a path for your year, or at least the next six months, that will fit with your schedule and goals.

Best wishes for a great start to 2017!

     Wellness Tool: Making a Plan

You might wonder how planning is related to wellness, and you wouldn't be the first person to ask. Especially in dance, where so many decisions are made for you, and so much seems out of your control, it might sound strange to promote planning.

And yet, this is a key aspect to becoming a successful dancer.

Woody Allen once said, "Showing up is 80% of life" and in some ways, he's right. But dancers never just show up. There's too much to do and just showing up wouldn't cut it.

Successful dancers, the ones who are calm, focused, and in control, bring their best selves to the studio every day and it's largely because of what they've done behind the scenes.

Those dancers have energy because they've slept the night before and eaten breakfast. They stay focused throughout the day because they have snacks and lunch in their bag (and mental fitness tools in their brains). They aren't frustrated beyond reason when something goes wrong in class because they've been working through those emotions outside of the studio.

Who are these dynamo dancers? Do they exist?

Yes, those dancers exist; I know because I've worked with them. Once they realize that success starts with being organized and planning their time, most dancers jump on board.

In order to be that dynamo dancer above, here's at peek at what happens behind the scenes on a regular basis:

  • regular, focused grocery shopping with a list
  • knowing what foods to buy because they've worked with a coach like me or a nutritionist (so they know what works best for their bodies)
  • having a plan for meals and snacks
  • having a plan for getting to bed on time, so they can wake up on time so they can cook and eat breakfast and pack their food bag
  • setting limits on how late they're up, how long they're on social media, how they get their homework done.

The list goes on, but you get the idea.

It's a lot, right? Yes. One of my dancers says "Adulting is hard work." She's right.

But "adulting" is a lot easier with a plan. Plans alleviate stress because we know what we need to do and when. All those dancers you see who are so "together" and calm? Chances are they spend their evenings and weekends following schedules and checking off lists.

Why not be one of them? Start your 2017 with a bang by getting organized. If you want help, shoot me an email by clicking on the little envelope icon below. I've helped a lot of dancers with their planning and am here for you!
