Welcome 2017!
What does the new year have in store for you?
If you're like me you are reflecting on your 2016 and considering how you can improve your life in 2017. What would you like to change? What do you want to do differently? How can you accomplish or move closer to your goal? Many people make resolutions for the new year - 45% of Americans do, in fact. But only 8% are successful in achieving their resolutions. However, people who make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than those who do not make resolutions, so it sounds like a resolution is in order if you want to make a change! (Statistics from www.statisticbrain.com)
According to Lifehack.org, there are seven steps to follow to make a resolution and keep it:
- Just pick one thing. If you want to change your life or your lifestyle don't try to change the whole thing at once.
- Plan ahead.
- Anticipate problems.
- Pick a start date.
- Go for it.
- Accept failure. (Don't give up!)
- Plan rewards
On New Year's Eve we will have a Clean Slate class where we will consider changes we want to make in the new year and start to manifest these changes during our practice. The class will involve journaling, intention and stimulation of our personal power energy center. Join me at 8 am on New Year's Eve!
There are plenty of other opportunities to for positive changes planned for 2017 at Energy Yoga & Fitness, I'm currently offering a workshop called Yoga For Recovery which addresses the issues involved in addiction/attachment and recovery which meets on Tuesdays at 6 pm through February 28th at Highland Hope Church. A book study begins on Saturday, January 21st where we'll study How Yoga Works, by Michael Roach, a journey through the Yoga Sutras, threads of wisdom which offer guidelines for living a meaningful and purposeful life. Go to http://www.studioenergy.com/workshopsevents.html for more details.
Additionally, a regular yoga practice provides better health, improved mood, reduction in stress, and an overall feeling of peace. Join me on the mat. Click below for this month's class schedule.
