Our lovely Lucas (foster kitty extraordinaire pictured above) is just one of the lucky animals to be safe and warm this holiday season. We've saved so many this year. In December alone, we took sweet Shelby all the way down to Blacksburg for cardiac surgery. And we couldn't save Samantha the Yorkie's damaged leg, but she's healing well and will do fine on three legs. But Lucy is the luckiest of them all: hit by a car and found hiding in a ditch, Lucy suffered a fractured femur, dislocated hip, fractures ileum, and a few pelvic breaks as well. After several surgeries, she has a long road of recovery ahead of her, but she's happy to be celebrating the holiday in a warm foster home. Lucas, Shelby, Samantha, and Lucy are still looking for their forever homes, but in 2016, we saved many more lucky pets, altered more than 350 pets (most for free), administered more than 3000 low-cost vaccinations and microchips, and handled thousands of telephone inquiries and abuse reports.
