Volume 3

Happy New Year! I'm aiming for something close to quarterly with this for 2017. We'll see how it goes.

The new site is live! You can now read my musings and announcements and such at www.bobmuellerwriter.com. If you have a post bookmarked at the old site, just change the first part of the URL from "indefixa.ravensbeak.com" to www.bobmuellerwriter.com and you'll find it at the new site.

Writing

I noticed recently that Amazon is now doing paperbacks through their KDP program. I've looked over what's available about the program, and think I'm going to wait until it's improved a bit. As introduced, they don't allow for proof copies or author copies. CreateSpace, Amazon's current paperback publishing arm, makes both proof and author copies available. That means I can hold a paper copy in my hands to make sure it looks like I want it to. Plus, I can buy books in bulk and at publishing cost for a local event. That's more important than I thought it would be, I found. I sold half a dozen books at a recent author event at the Muskogee library, and that would have been too expensive for me to do through KDP paperbacks. So I'll wait for improvements there. CreateSpace is serving me just fine.

I'm finally editing The Sad Girl Book 2. I've got a lot of work to do on that one. Look for it in late summer. I'm aiming for August. I think you'll like it. There's a cross-country chase, a fight in a cemetery, and a couple of surprising developments in the overall story.

Voice

As I look back over my Twitter stats for the last couple of months, it seems like I binge on different Voice subjects. I'll post a ton of stuff about trafficking, for instance, then ignore that for a few weeks while I push a bunch of police misconduct posts. Then I'll switch off to wrongful convictions for a while, and not mention anything else. I'd like to work on some consistency there.

Elsewhere

Good riddance to 2016, for the most part. I know some people had a great year. But we lost far too many incredibly talented people: musicians, writers, scientists. My publisher went out of business, as did several others, along with All Romance eBooks, LLC, the latter in a disturbing manner, from what I've been able to read.

I'm maintaining my straight A average at school. This will be my last semester at TCC. I'm taking Technical/Professional Writing, Short Story Writing, and Intercultural Communication, and I'm continuing at the TCC Connection. There will be lots of writing with that course load, but I'm hopeful that the Short Story Writing course will help me kick-start that part of my writing.

That's all for now. Keep an eye on the blog, and have a great year!
