Lesson 2043: What Is the Trinity? Pt.2

The facts: God is one; Jesus is God; Jesus and the Father are not the same.

The Holy Spirit is also God, but He is not the same person as God the Father or God the Son.

The Father is God:

Rom.1:7 Grace to you and peace from God our Father

The Son is God:

Heb.1:8 God says of the Son, “Your throne, O God, is forever".

David called Christ the Lord (God), even though Christ descended from David. Matt.22:41-46

The Spirit is God:

Acts 5:3-4 Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit... You have not lied to man but to God.”

God became a human being in the body of Jesus Christ.

After the resurrection of Jesus on the first Easter, God indwells other human beings (the Holy Spirit enters each Christian believer at the moment they get saved).

What does the Bible say about the Trinity?

The Old Testament and New Testament agree that there is only one God.

Deut.6:4 The Lord our God is one.
James 2:19 there is one God.

Mark 12:29; John 1:18, 5:44; Rom.3:30;
1 Cor.8:4, 6; Gal.3:20; Eph.4:6

The New Testament says that Jesus is God.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word (Jesus), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Phil.2:6; Titus 2:13; Heb.1:3
