Join us this Saturday and explore 3D paper hats & costume! The mannequins are ready, come and collaborate on some hats and period and futuristic costume! All ages are welcome. Seating and refreshments available.
PAPER, Transformed is a collaborative exhibition showcasing visual artwork from artists connected with PAPER Gallery in Manchester and emerging artists from Arc’s wellbeing programmes.
All ages are welcome to the monthly Arc Saturday Art Clubs. We ask for a small donation of £2 for the activity.. Refreshments will be available and please feel free to bring your own lunch and relax in the seating areas.
Responding to increased demand from vulnerable people and to create relevant training for creative people, many of whom are seeking work or increased skills and confidence, Arc has commissioned 3 artists in residence.
We have some new creative courses and training planned that will generate new income for the charity, volunteering opportunities and enable current volunteers to gain professional experience.
The residents and participants in the programme will organise an exhibition for June 2017 but you can follow their journey on social media in the next few months.

We are excited to be involved with SICK!'s participatory public art project "Before I Die" by artist Candi Chang.
The installation invites people to contemplate death, reflect on life, and share their personal aspirations in public. After losing someone she loved, Chang channelled her grief and depression into this project covering a crumbling house with chalkboard paint and stencilled it with the prompt, “Before I die I want to ....." Welcome to our new trustees Wendy & Safi!
We spoke to Safi to find out a bit more about her...
What was your favourite job ever?
Apart from working with the lovely people at Arc, I would say my role as a
Volunteer and Development Co-ordinator for an older peoples’ welfare and health charity. It was a varied role involving fundraising, volunteer management and community outreach and I made some memorable friendships during my years there that I still treasure.
What are you passionate about?
Equality and social and environmental justice… We are all equal, but all different. It is okay to be different, society doesn’t always agree but we are all part of society. So, I work with others in society in unpicking this and opening up dialogues to create awareness and positive change.
What do you do for fun?
Dancing, music, movement. Dancing and music is universal, it raises the spirits and can bring smiles to both those watching and listening and those willing to join in!
Why did you want to be involved with Arc?
Their work on wellbeing and their values. I had heard of Arc before I even knew what they did, just from the good things people were saying about them. It made me want to know more. Then when I did get to know more about their work around wellbeing through the arts and had met a few people already involved, I just knew this was something I should get involved with.
Tamzin Forster Photography Exhibition “I find that both creative and physical activity increase my resilience to the stresses of daily life. Not only am I feeling physically fitter through running, but I am more mentally alert through mindful running. It is important to me that these runs are local and highlight the beauty near where I live. I try to take a photo during each run using different techniques and subjects to keep learning and create an interesting body of work.” Read more here.

There are spaces left for the creative public programmes' few remaining workshops.
A new programme will launch in late April. Please join the workshop mailing list at the bottom of the linked page to be first to know! The programme will include artist product training, block printing and ceramics.

Monthly Drawing Socials!
Join us for a session of evening-time social drawing... All experience levels welcome, just come and enjoy yourself!

HANDMADE GIVEAWAYS!
We have a couple of Handmade Giveaways going on! PAPER artist Phill Hopkins and Arc Shop seller Lisa Martell have kindly donated pieces to us in support of our charitable aims. Phill's painting Burning City can be won by purchasing a £2 raffle ticket at the centre, and the draw is this Saturday at the Art Club. Lisa's earrings can be won simply by Liking and sharing on our Facebook! Treat yourself or you could give these fantastic artworks to a loved one.
