Phoenix Alumnae Chapter of Delta Zeta's signature event "Turtles and Pearls" is February 26, 2017. You will not want to miss our event that honors our 65, 50 25 and 10 year membership milestones that were achieved in 2016. We also honor and welcome our Pi Zeta chapter senior members who will be graduating this year and becoming alumnae members.

This year the event will be held at the Gladly Restaurant known for high quality ingredients in their dishes. Their chopped salad was included in Food Networks Must Try Dishes in Phoenix. It's so famous that it has its own Facebook page. You will be able to choose from four signature lunch dishes including the famous chopped salad at our luncheon. Get your reservations done today.

The food will be fabulous, but come for the sisterhood. This is always a wonderful event and you won't want to miss it-especially if you are being honored with a membership milestone. Our special guest will be Ann Santos, AZ Recognition Chair.

The Gladly is centrally located at 2201 E Camelback Rd, Phoenix, AZ. Registration and photo booth will be from 11am-12noon and the luncheon will start at noon with the membership recognitions to follow. Parking is free of charge and located on the south side of Camelback Road between 22nd and 24th Street. From here you can access the main entrance and patio to The Gladly.

Cost is $30. Your reservation must be received by Wednesday, February 22 either by paying through our website here. Or sending check to our treasurer Lorna Green, 4723 E. Voltaire, Phoenix, AZ 85032. As the seniors are our guests, please consider sponsoring a senior for $25 each. Your online payment or mailed check is your confirmed reservation. Hope to see you at Turtles and Pearls. It is always amΔΖing!
Become a Charter Member of Tucson Alumnae Chapter
The excitement builds for Tucson 2017 year! At the December luncheon we voted to petition National to become a formal alumnae chapter in Arizona.  Our February luncheon will be a chance to become a charter member of Tucson Alumnae of Delta Zeta by the signing of the petition. We want to thank Susan Norman, Arizona State Alumnae Chairman, for her assistance in making this happen. Nancy Karsh, our newly appointed treasurer, will provide information on the banking account she is setting up for us. It will be a fact filled luncheon with good food and loads of discussion.

We will be meeting at the Double Tree Hilton-Reid Park  445 S. Alvernon Way
Date:  Monday, February 06, 2017
Time:  12:00 Noon
Cactus Rose North Room
As of January 01, the Hilton will no longer provide individual checks for groups. My best recommendation would be to pay with cash, if possible.

We also will want to give a big welcome to Briana Russo. Briana graduated in May 2014 from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania  and was a member of Iota Delta Chapter of Delta Zeta. She recently relocated to Tucson and finished her Masters Degree in August 2016. She will join us in February to sign the petition and become a charter member of Tucson Alumnae of Delta Zeta.

Please let me know by February 1st if you will be able to join us for our petition signing and a great luncheon of our Delta Zeta Sisters.

In the bonds of Delta Zeta,

Pi Zeta Chapter of DZ at ASU

Autumn Peck is the newly elected Vice President of Philanthropy for the Pi Zeta Chapter at ASU and she has this info for us. "As most of you know, Dukeout is coming up quickly! (February 13-18th to be exact). Last year we raised $56,864, making Dukeout the largest philanthropy on campus. Nationally, we support both Starkey Hearing Foundation and The Painted Turtle. Locally we have adopted the Phoenix Children’s Hospital, ASU’s Speech and Hearing Department and Phoenix Day School for the Deaf. The Delta Zeta creed states, “To those whom my life may touch in slight measure, may I give graciously of what is mine”. To make our event as successful as it was last year, please help me in donating to our annual Dukeout Philanthropy. Any amount would be greatly appreciated! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at pizeta.philanthropy@gmail.com or 480-518-0089".

Fundraising for our Philanthropies Made Simple!
When you purchase a Makeup Eraser for only $20 our DZ Phoenix Alumnae Chapter will receive $10 back! Comes in pink, black, blue and purple. These make great gifts. It removes all make up with only water. Just wash with laundry once a week and it is ready to work again. To see it work:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fsx-LUFtnG0
Contact our Philanthropy chair Natalie at: philanthropy@deltazetaphoenix.com to purchase your Makeup Erasers. Our philanthropy donations include scholarships for Phoenix Day School of the Deaf seniors going on to higher education and Delta Zeta Foundation. Thanks to those who have already helped raise funds this year.
Alumna Spotlight-Suzan Bryceland

"Delta Zeta represents the common bond of sisterhood whose values instill leadership, community involvement, commitment to others, friendship, and loyalty," says Suzan Bryceland (Delta Phi, Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK). "Delta Zeta means a lifetime of being with extraordinary women who have strong beliefs and do not hesitate to push for the rights of others."

These are not just words to Suzan, who is using some of those leadership skills as president of our new alumnae chapter in Tucson. In addition, she has had a major concern for others, as evidenced by her career: working 10 years in Developmental Disabilities in the State of Texas, and 25 years for the State of GeorgiaBehavioral Health. She earned a masters degree in counseling from Seattle University. Suzan is now retired.

Suzan and her husband, Dr. John A. Bryceland, have been married for 35 years. Their goddaughter, Michaela, lives in Winsford, England. They also have a canine friend, Chica, who adopted them 11 years ago in Atlanta.

The Brycelands like to travel, and one of their goals is to visit as many U.S. National Parks as possible. "They all are so beautiful...and a national treasure," Suzan says. "After I started [listing them], I couldn't believe we had visited that many!" Their favorite trips outside the U.S. have been to Germany, Austria, England, France, and Iceland.

Suzan says her favorite book is "Beloved," by Tony Morrison, and "Schindler's List" is at the top of her movie list. She likes to listen to "Take It Easy," by the Eagles.

Since graduation from college, Suzan has belonged to Delta Zeta alumnae chapters in Tulsa, OK, and Atlanta, GA. "Being around strong women is such an inspiration that I find keeps me focused on contributions I can make to others," she explains. "I am so pleased that Tucson alumnae are petitioning to become a formal Delta Zeta alumnae chapter!" And we are so happy you agreed to be the first President of the newly formed Tucson Alumnae Chapter.

Happy Valentines Day!

"To my friends, understanding and appreciation, To those closer ones, love that is ever steadfast."
