As 2016 comes to a close, we want to take a minute to highlight some of the fun things that happened this year!

It's hard for us to NOT talk about EVERYTHING NAC has done and accomplished this year! We have a few highlight reels and then a full video that we will launch on Friday for our end of the year re-cap! So keep an eye out for that!

For right now, we picked just a few (definitely not all!) key moments for NAC during 2016 and wanted to briefly share them!

January
We had our first Back Bay Cleanup of 2016 with the Newport-Irvine Rotary and Newport Bay Conservancy center! We picked up over 2000 POUNDS of trash that day! The back bay clean up is the FIRST Saturday of every month!

February
We had our 20th Annual Hal Rosoff Classic down at the NAC in February! We were lucky enough to have some of our Olympic Friends from Hungary competing alongside us in the Newport Back Bay!

March
NAC boys Junior Rowing Program won the Southern California Cup in Long Beach in March! Check out the article in the Daily Pilot!

April

Our Junior Rowing Program competed in the San Diego Crew Classic in April! The Novice Boys winning result puts them as contenders for the best Novice crew is South West Region. Our Boys Varsity placed 3rd in their final, as well as the lightweight 8+! Men's JV placed 2nd in their final. The WOW Ladies also competed in Crew Classic!

Two WOW records were set at this regatta:

Every heat and every race was coxed by the incomparable, Jeanine Raab.
This was the largest group of WOW Masters rowers to enter this prestigious race!

May
NAC Member Maggie Hogan qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in the K1 5000M. NAC Member Kriszta Zur also qualified and won Gold for Hungary in the K4 event!

June

The NAC took OVER the East Coast in June! With the Outrigger Program sending 3 crews to New York for the Hawaiian Airlines Liberty Challenge and the Junior Rowing Program sending over 25 Athletes to Nationals in New Jersey!

July

The NAC Dragon Boat Team competed in the 20th Annual Dragon Boat Festival in Long Beach!

August

The NAC Outrigger Program took over 50 athletes to Kona, HI in August for the Queen Lili'uokalani race on the Big Island Of Hawaii! They competed in the Worlds Largest Outrigger Canoe Race - all the Juniors left the islands with medals! Yuichi also made a trip video for everyone to check out!

September

NAC played host to two highly competitive Tahitian Outrigger Teams in September while they competed, and won, the Catalina Crossing U.S. Outrigger Championships!

October

NAC had a lot of events going on in October! First the Outrigger Program hosted Off Da Couch - The Sam Couch Race AND Tahiti Fest on the same Saturday. Then the Junior Rowing Program put on their first fall Fundraiser, Casino Night! Head on over to our facebook to see all our red carpet photos!

November

The Rowing programs raced in the San Diego Fall Classic! The WOW ladies raced an 8+, 2 4+s and a 4x. The 8+ raced hard and ended up with the 2nd best raw time! The Men’s (MOW - Men on the water!) 4x had the 3^rd fastest raw time, and ended up 5^th place with handicap applied. The Junior Rowing Team also went to Head of the American! December

NAC teamed up with San Diego Crew Classic and put on the first Winter Classic Regatta on Mission Bay! Glassy water and fair racing. A great opportunity for the athletes to race and for parents to come down and be a part of the day! What an end to a 2016 Fall/Winter Season!
