Wishing you a Happy New Year

There is always a hope that comes with the beginning of a new year, but it does not mean we shall forget that for many Kansans the struggles they faced in 2016 will continue. My hope that is the new legislature will work together to solve as many of the problems as we can to improve the lives of all Kansans. I pledge to listen to my constituents and be available to listen to their concerns and their solutions.

Kansans deserve to have access to their elected officials and I will host a Saturday morning coffee on the first Saturday of every month beginning in February. Please watch for details in the coming weeks.

I will be sworn in for what will be my fourth non-consecutive term in the Kansas Legislature on January 9th. I've been meeting with constituents, non-profits and businesses in preparation for the 2017 session.

Committee assignments were released last week. I will serve as the Ranking Minority Member on the Insurance Committee and I will also serve on Agriculture and General Government Budget Committees.

If you have any questions during the legislative session, please don't hesitate to reach out and if you are ever in the Capitol, please don't hesitate to drop by and visit.

I will send weekly updates during the legislative session and always welcome your opinion on the issues we will be debating in committee and on the floor.
