In The Studio...

With preparing for Christmas there hasn't been a huge amount of work going on in my studio the last few months, I did design, finish and ship a small holiday wall hanging for my son and his lady in Nashville for the first holiday season in their new home. I designed it in EQ7 - this is the design. Somehow I forgot to photograph it before I shipped it off. I called it "15 Trees"

I'm also continuing to work on my Lone Star quilt from a Westside Quilters workshop in October with Jan Krentz and managed to finish the center star motif before the holidays. It's all in Asian prints which I had been collecting for years. Right now it still sits waiting for inspiration for more borders in order to enlarge it for our double bed. I highly recommend taking a workshop from Jan. She is certainly the most organized and thorough teacher I've ever experienced. Her many tricks and work arounds were invaluable!

Sally Gould Wright Slideshow video
I recently updated the slideshow of work from my studio.... enjoy!

My trip to Japan is looming!  We leave January 17th for Tokyo, the Tokyo Quilt Show and textile related touring in Kyoto and Nagoya, so right now I'm worrying about warm clothes and good walking shoes. We may not be slogging through snow, but it will certainly be chilly for this native Angeleno! I hope to have some great quilty experiences and photos to share.
Finished quilts, large and small as well as greeting cards of some of my work are available from
my shop on Etsy.com

Winter in Southern California....

No, we didn't get a white Christmas, but we are experiencing some very welcome rain and cool weather! Big sprays of Magnolia Grandiflora and our backyard holly bushes with red berries have added a welcome but of holiday green decoration along with poinsettia and amaryllis. The photo above is a detail of a painted whole cloth quilt I completed years ago and is always hung in our home at Christmas.
In Print....
It was an honor to have two of my pieces featured in the November/December, 2016 issue of
Machine Quilting Unlimited! "Swan Song" was included in an article on the treatment of sky in art quilts and "California Dreaming: Asilomar" was  featured in the 'Noteworthy" section.
