Centro de Prosperidad to open in Downtown Hillsboro in spring 2017

After more than a year of planning between the City of Hillsboro and Centro Cultural de Washington County, Hillsboro’s Enterprise Zone (pictured above) will soon welcome the area’s first workforce and economic empowerment center.

The historic partnership will connect Hillsboro adults – especially low-income, Latino, and Enterprise Zone residents – with living-wage jobs, and promote the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Rapid response to historically-cold winter weather

  • Hillsboro Public Works Department crews worked 12-hour shifts, 24 hours each day for the past 10 days to keep roads safe and passable.
  • Employees cleared downed trees and debris at roughly 100 locations since last week.
  • Hillsboro Water Department employees responded to 55 emergency water shut-offs due primarily to residential and commercial customers' frozen or broken pipes.
  • You can help prevent flooding by clearing storm drains on your street when it's safe.

Street light inspections aim to improve energy efficiency

If you spot a work crew checking out the street lights in your neighborhood, don’t be alarmed – they’re helping the City of Hillsboro evaluate lights to increase energy efficiency and sustainability.
