January 2017

     Happy New Year

WELCOME TO A NEW YEAR!

Well we survived it then, Christmas and the New Year.  Who got all the TR goodies from Santa  and how many TR related New Year resolutions have already been broken.
As 2017 stretches out before us I thought I'd take this opportunity to bring you up to speed on some of the events that are planned for this year and to encourage you to put your hand up to organise one of our monthly TR Lincs runs.  You'll see from the draft 2017 programme available by clicking HERE that there are plenty of dates available.  Please volunteer to organise a run as these are the mainstay of our group and are so enjoyable.  It doesn't have to be fancy, we just need an excuse to get our cars out there!

Monday 16th January
Our next monthly meeting will be our Annual General Meeting held as usual at the Turnor Arms, Wragby.  You will already have received the relevant papers from Allyson Pywell. I am particularly pleased to welcome Paul Hogan, the newley elected chair of the TR Register as our guest chairman this year.  I'm sure Paul will be pleased to share with you some of his ideas for the TR Register and welcome some feedback from ourselves as grass root members of the Register.  Please try to get along and give Paul a warm TR Lincs welcome.
Saturday 28th January

We will be at the Bentley Hotel, Lincoln for our Annual Dinner.  All those of you that are attending will be contacted separately with last minute details.  If anyone would still like to come along then there is still time - just let me know pronto please as the venue is pressing to close numbers down.
Sunday 23rd April

County Wheels Day, once again at Jubilee Park, Woodhall Spa.  Put the date in your diary.  Once we have more details we'll let you know.  As in previous years Malcolm Brown and Derek Pywell are busy with the organisation of the 2017 event.  Watch this space.
Sunday 14th May

Tour of Lincs 100

Many of you have taken part in this event in previous years.  It is a great event organised by Sleaford Rotary Club in aid of local charities.  It is always a popular event and fills up fast.  Once we get the entry forms I'll let you all know.  In the meantime take a look at the Facebook page for latest news.
Sunday 11th June

Spalding and East Elloe Classic Run

Once again a fantastic run through the county and beyond.  Fantastic turnout last year and this years promises to be just as good. This year the run will start at Surfleet, and take a route through pleasant Lincolnshire villages, countryside and places of interest, on mainly rural roads, northwards to Branston, south of Lincoln and finish with spectacular views over the Vale of Belvoir from a reserved car park on the terrace of Belvoir Castle. For those who would like to take part then the entry form is available with all the details by clicking on the relevant file types here WORD or PDF.  Let me know if you intend going.
Sunday 25th June

Visit to RAF Scampton

An opportunity to visit the world famous RAF Scampton, home of the Dambusters and of course the Red Arrows.  We will have a guided tour of the Heritage Centre and a chance to see up close an operational airbase as well as immerse ourselves in the history from 617 squadron right up to today.  Places will be limited so if you would like to come along please let me know as soon as you can.
Monday 26th June - Sunday 2nd July

TR Lincs Tour of Northern Ireland

Once again a fantastic TR Lincs tour organised by Derek Pywell this year to Northern Ireland.
We will travel to Cairnryan on Monday the 26th of June stay overnight near to the port,  catch the 10.30am ferry to Larne on Tuesday the 27th of June (2hr crossing to Larne) and a four night stay at The Hedges 139a Ballinlea Road, Stranocum, Ballymoney, County Antrim, BT53 8PX, Northern Ireland until Saturday the 1st of July, during this time visit places of interest along the Causeway coast road then move to and sightsee Carrickfergus on Saturday for one night there then catch the 10.30am ferry back to Cairnryan and head home on the Sunday.  Some of the highlights that we will see can be found here
The cost for the Hedges Hotel will be approximately £89 per night bed and breakfast, and ferry is £302 return.
Plus two overnight stays to book which should be around the same cost.
The Hedges hotel is booking up quite quickly so confirmation of attendance would be much appreciated.  Please contact Derek Pywell (derek.pywell@gmail.com) as soon as possible so I can reserve it your place.  Once you go on tour with TR Lincs you'll never forget it!

That's all from me for now.  There will be lots more events as we go through the year so keep an eye on our local group page on the TR Register Website.  I'll also make sure you get plenty of advanced notice, so no excuses for not making 2017 the year you really put some miles on that car.  Please put yourself down for our own monthly runs, you'll get so much out of it.

See you all Monday

cheers

Adrian
