VSCCA Autumn Tour

A Driving Rally over Mountains and by the Sea

27 April  to 2 May 2017
(Thursday to Tuesday)

Dear <<First Name>>

We believe that members on tour should receive clear, up-to-date route instructions and be assured of excellent accommodation and catering.

Mr. Google is very helpful but nothing beats detailed reconnaissance. So in December Norah and I set off to run the route.

Then there was the winery lunch, but the web site did not highlight the 10Km of dirt  in and out with cattle grids. Our 4WD thought it was fun but the thought of participants chasing me to scrub wire wheels etc forced an instant plan B. Lunch is now at a nice old large pub in Dalgety.  The publican is keen to serve us.

Some special events are included:
  • BBQ with Sapphire Coast Historic Vehicle Club Inc
  • Yarrangobilly Caves Tour and lunch, Kosciuszko National Park
  • Boggy Creek Farm Show
  • Women's Heritage Museum
All venues have been visited and you'll find the relevant booking information below enabling you to make your personal bookings at the special rates. As our events are well patronised we have chosen large motels with secure parking at competitive prices.

If you can't join us for the entire tour, we encourage you to join us for a day or two! Just make sure you tick the appropriate motel boxes, meals and extras on the entry form - including the entry fee.

Norah and I ran an enjoyable tour around this area back in 2011 with our 1924 Silver Ghost and some more modern vehicles. The distances are not an issue and the roads are sealed.

Our chosen charity, Tumut Branch of 'Riding for the Disabled', are providing lunch at Yarrabilly Caves. They have had a shocking year with the loss of 4 horses - two by a lightening strike.  They receive no Government Funding and welcome the opportunity to cater for us.

Book now!

Now that 2017 is upon us and you have planned your year IT’S TIME to book the Motels listed and sign the Entry Form for this 2017 Autumn Tour.

We expect Autumn leaves and fine weather and look forward to touring with you!

The coast road to Moruya is delightful and takes us through forested areas.

Our lunch stop is at the Narooma Golf Club with it’s wonderful view over the ocean. Spot whales while dining—easy parking as well.

We use the Princes highway for a short distance and a stop at” All Saints Church” built by Thomas Mort at Bedalla is recommended.

After lunch, we take the Bermagui, Tathra coast tourist roads to our overnight stop at Merimbula.

Special BBQ and Museum Tour

Since the original planning we have been invited to enjoy some local hospitality from the Sapphire Coast Historic Vehicle Club Inc who are located on a Museum and workshop site a few K’s South at Pambula.

They plan to show us their cars if we show them ours and a BBQ supper hosted in their palatial Club Rooms is included.

The coast road to Merimbula is an enjoyable drive and our Motels are located in the town.

Lunch is a short distance away and will be provided by the ladies who run the Pioneer Women’s Hut Museum.

From there we have again found some back roads to Young that take us away from a short stint on the Hume, driving through Humula, Tarcutta, Coolac and Muttama and on to our final night in Young.

Our Motel in Young, as some may know, is owned by the RSL Club next door where we plan to have a relaxing last evening.
