January 2017

Cochrane Board Election

Voting for the January 2017 election of four internal members to the Cochrane Governing Board is now open, and will remain open until Wednesday, 25 January 2017.

Governing Board members are Cochrane’s directors and trustees, and are elected to direct the strategy and policies of the organization.

Why am I receiving this?
This is the first election to be run under Cochrane's recently revised Articles of Association, and many contributors will now be able to vote for the first time.

All Cochrane's contributors are invited to vote in this election, whether you are an author of a Cochrane Review, an editor, a peer reviewer, a translator, a trainer, staff, or one of our many other valued contributors. This is a first step by Cochrane to encourage a wider community of contributors to be actively involved in our work.

Eligibility to vote is based on the records kept in our database. If you’re not sure if you are eligible to vote, you can check your eligibility by following the instructions to access the voting form below.

How do I vote?

You can view the names of the 11 internal candidates standing for a place on the Governing Board and read their candidate statements and letters of support, along with full information on our election procedures, on the Elections page on the Cochrane Community website. The names of the candidates are also on the Voting form.

All candidates for election will compete in a single field, and will be voted on by the entire Cochrane membership. There are no separate categories of internal Board members, or representation of specific constituencies. Voting is by proportional representation, in which voters are asked to number one (or more if they choose) of the candidates in order of preference (placing a 1 in the box next to the most preferred candidate; 2 next to their next preferred candidate, and so on). The four candidates with the highest number of votes will be elected. Please note that voting is optional and confidential.

You will be asked to log in in order to access the Voting form. If you do not already have a Cochrane login and password (the same as your Archie or RevMan login), follow the prompts on the login page to create a new one (using the name and email address Cochrane uses to contact you). There is also a link on this page to reset your password if you have forgotten it. If you are not eligible to vote, a message will be displayed. If you have any queries about or difficulties with the voting process, please contact the Central Executive team.

If you have any general queries then please feel free to contact PaPaS Managing Editor, Anna Erskine (anna.erskine@ndcn.ox.ac.uk).
