2017 came in with a rush, no doubt about it! After a couple Christmas performances around town, and some time at home with the family to celebrate Christmas, I am ready for a great New Year. I hope you all have a blessed New Year as well.

Two Grammy nominated recording artists, Vel Lewis and Larry Braggs, will meet in Sugar Land, TX on January 20, 2017 at 8pm at the Sugar Land Auditorium to perform great hits, along with their own original songs, live on stage. Prior to performing with The Temptations, Larry Braggs toured the world as lead vocalist with the legendary soul band "Tower of Power" for 13 years. This is a show you definitely do not want to miss!

"Bach 2 Soul"
Bringing the Classics to our youth
The "Bach 2 Soul" program is moving full speed ahead into 2017, with the third of five presentations on "The Art and Science of Piano and Organ" that took place earlier today at the historic landmark, First Evangelical Lutheran Church featuring a brilliant organ performance by Dr. Jeong-Suk Bae, Adjunct Professor of Organ Performance of the University of St. Thomas, Houston.
This program merges classical pianist Francesco Attesti (www.attesti.com) and Jazz Hammond organist Vel Lewis together with Efrem Jernigan, President of South Union Community Development Corporation of Houston (www.southunioncdc.org) and classical pianist and opera vocalist Mariam Haddad, to bring the Arts to South Union CDC's "STEM" program (creating the acronym "STEAM") to students ages 8 to 18 years of age. The video presentations are designed to provide insight to young people of the science, engineering, technology, and mathematics involved with pianos and organs - both acoustic and electronic models, from the early designs and models to present day models.
These video presentations will lead to a "Bach 2 Soul" concert at Houston Community College on May 6, 2017 featuring Francesco Attesti in person performing the Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach, with Vel Lewis performing a Jazz improvised version of the same music. The Houston Ballet will also perform at this event.
