Happy New Year! 2017 is just a little over one week old and already we have so much to celebrate. Congratulations to all of the students that made the trip to the Dallas area this past weekend for the TMEA Area competition. Based on their outstanding auditions, the Dragon Band will be represented by 8 extremely talented musicians in the All State Band. What an accomplishment!
There is no doubt that 2017 will be a banner year for the Dragon Band. Thank you for continuing to support this amazing group of young people.
Booster Meeting

Spring Fundraising
Spring brings 2 annual fundraising events. The 5th Annual Guard Gala is set for March 11, an important and fun event supporting the Color Guard through their Winter Guard contest season. We will also be teaming up once again with Custom Fundraising Solutions for our Mattress Sale, set for April 8th. This is a great group to work with, providing high quality products at a great price in an enjoyable environment.
Since we were unable to sell all of the Car Raffle tickets from the fall, we will be holding our 2nd annual Garage Sale with the date to be determined. So, start going through your old stuff because we’ll be asking for donations soon. This event served us well last year and except for some serious sunburns, was almost a party the day of the sale.
Be looking for details and volunteer signups for all these fundraisers over the next few weeks.
2016 Dragon Band Photo Books
We are now taking orders for the 2016 Photo Book. This is a item that will preserve the memories of one of the Dragon Band's most successful years EVER! The 140 page softcover book is loaded with high quality full color photos and covers the entire 2016 marching season of the band. The 2016 book is very similar to the book we sold last year, but with all new photos! These memories were captured during Band-a-Thon, football games, contests and the UIL State Championships. These unique keepsakes are just $30 for the first book and $25 for each additional book after that. Be sure to order yours today because there will be NO LATE ORDERS after 4:30pm (both online and paper orders) on January 27th.
Help Needed with Dragon Band Uniforms
It's time to get the marching uniforms cleaned and back into great shape for the Fall 2017 marching season! Starting tomorrow Tuesday, January 10th, we will begin the process of removing this year's alterations and getting the uniforms clean and smelling nice again. With 320 uniforms to do, we can use as much help as possible, whether it's to rip out alterations, wash uniforms (they're machine washable), or to do both. Removing alterations is very easy to do. All you need is a seam ripper, no sewing experience is needed. Terrie Landt will be in the uniform room ripping out alterations every day from 12pm-4:30pm starting Tuesday the 10th. Please come join in if you can! If you are unable to come during the day, uniforms can be checked out and taken home to work on. Volunteers will be needed to only wash uniforms as well. There are instruction sheets available for both the alterations removal and for washing the uniforms.
