Venue wanted for History Exhibition

In 2009, the Association sourced 39 historical images from the Adelaide Library History Trust archives, printed them on canvas and displayed them at The South West Community Centre and Box Factory in that year. Since then, these scenes from City South's past have been in storage.
City South Association is now looking for a hospitality venue (eg Hotel, Cafe, Gallery etc) within the Precinct to host an Exhibition in May 2017 as part of History Month. The space should be publicly accessible during normal operating hours and this will be a good promotional opportunity for the venue, with City South bearing the costs of exhibition. The venue needs a decent amount of hanging space, so that as many images can be displayed as possible.
If any venues are interested in hosting this Exhibition, we ask that you get in touch with City South's Coordinator Andrew Petes at coordinator@citysouth.org.au. With the deadline to register with History SA being February 1, we ask that you register your interest with us by Friday January 20. For more details, please download the Exhibition Brief here.

City Makers Grants applications open

Renewal SA's City Makers is a grant program to support the entrepreneurial and creative communities of Adelaide and the part they play in the making of our vibrant city. The State Government is launching Round 4 of their City Makers place making and building compliance grants for the CBD.  These grants will be open for an extended period until approximately June 2017.
City Makers provides funds to help with building compliance issues such as noise, fire safety, heritage and accessibility. Up to $10,000 in funding is available. City Makers also provides funds for imaginative place making projects – public art, street art and events – which encourage community use and interaction. Up to $7,500 in funding is available. You can find the grants’ guidelines here.
With direct flights from China to Adelaide beginning soon, Adelaide's businesses are readying themselves for this valuable tourist influx. WeChat is the social media platform that almost all Chinese use when home and abroad, and is a valuable tool for local businesses seeking to engage with the incoming tourists. The Adelaide City Council is running a free WeChat for Business Workshop on Tuesday, 7 February, 5:30pm-7:00pm at Adelaide Town Hall presented by Jing Cao; Director of Chinese Language and Cultural Advice (CLCA). For more info and tickets, click here.

Best wishes for 2017 from City South!

City South Association would like to wish everyone in the Precinct all the best for the New Year! We'd like to take this opportunity to thank our Members and the Adelaide City Council for their ongoing support.
