Do you want to be the person that has all the apps and links relevant to our area? Be the one that everyone knows will have the answer??

Here are some helpful links to information to keep you on top of everything this year. I have to list these ones first because they are very relevant at the moment...
Rural Fire Service (RFS) Fire Danger Ratings and Total Fire Bans - Parkes and Forbes Shire Council are in Region 15, with Bland; Dubbo; Lachlan; Narromine; Temora; Weddin; Wellington, withe other helpful resources on their website as well.
Rural Fire Service (RFS) Fires Near Me - Most of us would probably have this up pretty regularly at this time of the year. Just click the Alert Level tab and you can see more details regarding the fire. This site is updated regularly and they feed through the update on Twitter and Facebook @NSWRFS. All of their social media links and apps are available on their website here.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) - the BOM website has current weather warnings and if you want to know what the El Nino-Southern Osillation (ENSO) is doing or just see a quick forecast it is all there. Of course, everyone likes their own weather website or app, but the BOM is the bomb...
Central West Lachlan Landcare (CWLL) - We are a registered not-for-profit, with a focus on providing training and resources to our community. Click here for all of the dates in our calendar, with links, where possible, to relevant events happening in the Parkes and Forbes Shires and a few extras, including Central West Show dates. The Looking At Landcare article is uploaded weekly to our website under the blog, shared over facebook and twitter (@cwlllandcare) weekly and of course, in the Forbes Advocate and Parkes Champion Post.
Central West Local Land Services (CWLLS) - The NSW Government department overseeing biosecurity, livestock health, natural resource management, stock movement and identification, travelling stock reserves, agriculture, pest animal and insect control agricultural production and emergency management in relation to agriculture and natural disasters. Also on Facebook and Twitter @CentralWestLLS
The Environment Protection Authority have a handy guide to keep track of chemical use, that outlines information that is worth recording when applying pesticides. This includes an overview of the Beaufort wind scale.
NSW Government WeedWise website - have you wondered about the name of a particular weed? This link will take you to the App overview and has a link to the website.
Parkes Shire Council (PSC) - covering the towns and villages of Parkes, Peak Hill, Trundle, Tullamore and Bogan Gate.
Forbes Shire Council (FSC) - covering the towns and villages of Forbes, Bedgerabong and Eugowra.
National Parks and Wildlife (NPWS) - when you click this link it will take you through to the 'Country NSW' section of the map. Check out what is available nearby.

FUTURE FOR THE GREEN ARMY

You might have heard that Round 5 of the Green Army Programme will no longer be running. Yes, it's true....but we still have two more teams running this year up until November. Please feel free to click the links below to find out more about the media's interpretation of the decision and why the decision was made.

We will not be commenting on how or why this decision was made or what we think about it, but we will be commenting on what fantastic work we have already achieved with our first Green Army Team and how much we are looking forward to working with our current team and the team that follows on. We will comment on the positive benefits that the Programme has brought to not only the farming, environmental and local council partners, but also the positive benefits that our young workers have gained from being part of this Programme.

We have been thrilled with the outcomes from the Green Army Programme and pleased to work with Skillset Environment to employ 14 people so far and our communities and the environment are reaping the benefits of these young people being willing to get out and have a go. I can't wait to see what we can achieve this year!
