Happy New Year to all CLLM supporters, friends and graduates.  As with any new year, opportunity lies stretched out ahead of us.  What change will you be part of? Will you tackle an opportunity that you have put off in previous years, or do you just purely feel open to whatever comes your way?

Activating and applying your community leadership skills is mission critical.  Do you feel confident to stand up, speak up and throw your hat in the ring?  As we fast approach the launch of the LMCMP 2017 program, as Chair I hold much anticipated hope and excitement to welcome the 2017 participants as they commence on their journey with us.

It is clear that with the record number of applicants for our unique, tried and tested approach to leadership development that LMCLP activates and equips all types of community leaders, ensuring that our communities are equipped in making the difference, often when the going gets tough.

All the best for an amazing year ahead, I am looking forward to working with my fellow Board colleagues and CLLM staff to deliver another year of stellar outcomes in the community leadership space.  We #WaitForNoCavalry.

From the EO

Happy new year everyone, even if it is February already!  As you will see, Mel has been hard at work during January refreshing Enews for the new year and after 12 years, we finally decided it was time to change the name of our monthly electronic newsletter to Inspire, as that is what we hope to do through this publication (and all of our initiatives), and it is also one of our CLLM core values.

I hope you like the new look, and most importantly, the content within the newsletter.  Our aim is to keep our regional leadership network inspired, empowered, and informed about CLLM initiatives and a range of opportunities for continued personal and professional development.

As you are reading this, Lucy and the team are hard at work planning the launch of the 2017 LMCLP, and I hope you will be able to join us at Newbridge on Friday 17 February for what promises to be a fabulous night.

This will be closely followed by our Opening Weekend Retreat and then we will be into the program.  It will be no time at all before it is our CLLM AGM and Vision of the Region Dinner on Friday 28 April....  Details in the next issue of Inspire.

Join us for the launch of the 2017 Loddon Murray Community Leadership Program at Newbridge on Friday 17 February and help us welcome the 30 new participants as they begin their leadership journey. To book tickets click here
There are another lucky group of people about to embark on their LMCLP journey, feeling all the emotions you may remember (if you are a graduate) from your pre-LMCLP journey:  nervous anticipation; do I have time?; do I have the right clothes?; am I really a ‘leader’?; is this going to be worth my while?; what will the other people be like?; is it really as good as they all say it is?

We have increased our numbers yet again, to 30, to accommodate as many as possible of the incredibly inspiring people.

We have the usual mix of farmers, community workers, business people, those working in government, education and in natural resource and environmental management.

Come along to our Lauch on Friday 17th February in Newbridge to meet the 2017 group.

Our graduates are active out in communities, making a difference and supporting important community initiatives.  Here is another example of a hugely successful community project in action!

Last week Jason Hensley's (LMCLP 2016) community project culminated in Cohuna's inaugural Bra Unclipping event. A theatre restaurant with 150 people attending.

The aim of the project was to host a fun uplifting evening, a chance for people to connect and have a laugh and most of all to support the dairy industry.

The show conducted by B BAC Productions (from Boort, Buckrabanyule and Charlton), is a quirky Australian comedy that not only entertains, but also explored many rural community challenges.  Well done Jason!

Our Projects Manager Fiona went to an information session on the Building Better Regions Fund, here is a summary for you.

The $297.7 million Building Better Regions Fund supports the Australian Government’s commitment to create jobs, drive economic growth and build stronger regional communities into the future.

The program will fund projects in regional Australia outside the major capital cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Canberra. A mapping tool is available to assist applicants determine the eligibility of their project location.
There are two streams of funding available under the program:

- Community Investments Stream

Both streams will open on 18 January 2017. The Infrastructure Projects Stream will close at 5pm local time on 28 February 2017 and the Community Investments Stream will close at 5pm local time on 31 March 2017. Find put more at their website
